According to Techcrunch, in the past 3 months, the GitHub Copilot tool has attracted 5 million new users, proving impressive growth rate and increasing demand in the programming community.
According to Satya Nadella - CEO of Microsoft at the quarterly financial report announcement, GitHub Copilot has reached more than 20 million experimental users since its launch. This is an increase of 5 million users compared to the previous quarter, when this figure was only 15 million TechCrunchX (formerly Twitter).
The data shows strong growth rates, although it is unclear how many of them continue to use this tool daily or monthly, it is clear that the spread of Copilot is increasingly widespread in the programming community and businesses.
GitHub said that 90% of the 100 companies Fortune are using GitHub Copilot - reflecting the coverage and important role of this tool in the business environment. The growth rate of corporate users has reached about 75% compared to the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, Copilot is not as popular as AI chatbot, but is clearly dominating the programming support AI tool segment - a field that requires high expertise and is willing to pay outstanding value. Meanwhile, many competitors such as: Cursor, Anthropic (with Claude Code), Google and OpenAI are also developing competitive products in this segment.
