The International Market Research Corporation (IDC) has just released smartphone data in China, one of the largest markets in the world. In the folding smartphone segment, Huawei continues to rank number 1 with 71.6% market share - the highest among all competitors. This is not the first time this company has dominated the folding phone market in its home country.
In recent quarters, Huawei has maintained its leading position, holding more than half of the market share in the folding phone market. This is thanks to the company's impressive folding phone models, such as the Mate X and the three-fold folding smartphone.
Some other brands in the list include Honor in second place with 9.1% market share. Vivo in third place with 4.9% market share.
Oppo ranked fourth with a market share of 4.3%, while manufacturer Galaxy Fold - Samsung - appeared in fifth place with the same market share of 4.3%.
Also according to IDC, in 2025, 284 million smartphones were sold in China, down 0.6% compared to 2024. In early 2025, government subsidies combined with the peak shopping season of the Lunar New Year significantly boosted the market, but this momentum has weakened.
In the second half of the year, due to factors such as market demand decreasing early, government subsidies in many areas no longer exist, and costs continuing to increase, the market continued to decrease compared to the previous year.
