HarmonyOS was developed by Huawei itself, to reduce Google's dependence on Android. It also supports running some Android apps thanks to the supporting software. With HarmonyOS, Huawei builds an independent technology ecosystem, including both hardware and software.
In an interview with CCTV, Huawei Device Business President Richard Yu said that HarmonyOS has the potential to be on par with Android and iOS by the end of 2025.
HarmonyOS is doing very well in the mobile operating system market in China. After the non- Android version, the number of users of this operating system has skyrocketed. Huawei has installed a new operating system on many devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, smart wearables, smart headphones, etc.
Huawei also developed Huawei's HarmonyOS 5.0 software version exclusively for personal computers (PC). These steps show that the Chinese telecommunications company is making efforts to turn its self-developed operating system into a formidable competitor to US products.
According to Richard Yu, installing HarmonyOS was initially quite difficult. But over time, they have improved many problems to help this operating system become smarter and safer.
HarmonyOS is unlikely to build an ecosystem from zero, but it is not historic and can be designed to be more advanced, lighter and bold when using new technologies and capabilities, Richard Yu shared.
Not only in terms of software potential, Richard Yu is also confident that the original HarmonyOS apps will become easy to use like iOS and Android by the end of next month.
