The American Music Awards has just officially announced the nomination list for this year's awards.
The nominations for this award were selected based on main fan interactions reflected through the Billboard charts including streaming, album and song sales, radio broadcasts, and tour revenue.
Blackpink's Rose has won 2 nominations this year. She and Bruno Mars were nominated for collaboration of the year with the song "APT. ".
"APT." will compete with Kendrick Linger and Singer's "Luther", Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' " Die With A smile", Marshmello and Kane Brown's "Miles on It", Post Malone and Morgan Wallen's "I Some Had Help", Taylor Swift and Post Malone's "Fortnight".
Rose was also nominated for the Most Favorite K-pop Artist category. In addition to Rose, the remaining 4 artists on the nomination list for the same category are ATEEZ, Stray Kids, Jimin and RM of BTS.
This is a new item returning after 2 years of absence. Previously, BTS won this award in its first year, 2022. After that, the Most Favorite K-pop Artist award was not given for 2 consecutive years, 2023 and 2024.
The 2025 American Music Awards will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez and broadcast live from Las Vegas (USA) at 8:00 p.m. on May 26 (local time).
The winners are determined by fan votes, from now until May 15.
Meanwhile, Rose and Bruno Mars' song "APT." released on October 18, 2024, quickly became a big hit.
"APT." entered the Top 3 of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, spent 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard Global 200 global chart and 19 weeks at the top of the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. (global except for the US).
According to the International Federation of Record Industry (IFPI), APT. is ranked 17th in the list of 20 best-selling songs globally in 2024. It took the song just over 2 months to reach this milestone.
APT. currently holds many records, such as the Kpop song reaching 1 billion and 1.5 billion streams fastest in history, and is also the second fastest song globally to reach these milestones, after Die With A Smile by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.
Recently, APT. continued to set a record for the fastest Kpop MV in history to reach 1.5 billion views, beating PSYs Gangnam Style.
Because it was released at the end of the year, "APT." has been absent from many music awards. This year promises to be a year of bountiful awards for Rose with this hit.
