On September 19, 2025, the Minister of Education and Training issued Circular 20/2025/TT-BGDDT on the Program of university reserve training subjects.
This Circular takes effect from November 4, 2025 and replaces Circular No. 48/2012/TT-BGDDT dated December 11, 2012 of the Minister of Education and Training promulgating a detailed outline for 11 university reserve subjects.
According to Circular 20/2025/TT-BGDDT, university transfer students are trained in cultural knowledge of three subjects according to the subject combination used to be admitted to university transfer schools (subject 1, subject 2, subject 3 among subjects of Math, Literature, English, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology);
college students are trained in their health and participate in educational activities. Based on the actual situation of the school, the learning and living needs of students, the Principal of the university reserve school chooses appropriate health training and educational activities;
University reserve schools proactively develop teaching plans according to the University Reserve Training Program issued by the Ministry of Education and Training in accordance with the current General Education Program.
The time frame for subject combinations without English and IT is regulated as follows:

For subjects with simultaneous Math and Literature subjects, the time for studying Math is 8 periods/week, the time for studying Literature is 7 periods/week.
The university reserve training period is one school year. The principal of the university reserve school decides on the school year plan to ensure 28 weeks of actual study, the remaining time to organize reviews, final exams and organize other activities.
The university reserve training program for the subjects: Economic and legal education, Biology, Geography, Physics, History, English, Math, Technology, Chemistry, Literature, Information Technology, issued with this Circular.
