The beginning of the new year is not only a time for rest and reunion, but also an opportunity for everyone to look back at the past journey, identify goals and start positive habits. For students, building a learning habit right from the beginning of the new year is important, contributing to creating a foundation for sustainable progress throughout the school year.
Start the new year by setting clear study goals
One of the habits that needs to be formed early is to identify specific learning goals for the new year. Instead of setting general desires, learners should break down goals into stages, semesters, or skills that need to be improved. Writing down goals, hanging them in the study corner, or writing them in the yearbook helps maintain motivation and reminds yourself to persevere in pursuing the set plan.
Especially, after a long holiday, many students fall into a state of sluggishness and slow learning pace. Therefore, quickly returning to a scientific living and study schedule is an important habit that needs to be maintained right from the beginning of spring. Sleeping and resting regularly, allocating reasonable study and entertainment time helps the body and spirit adapt early, avoiding prolonged "late pace".
Develop self-study habits and actively access knowledge
In modern education, self-study plays an important role. The beginning of spring is a suitable time for learners to form the habit of actively learning knowledge, reading more materials, self-assessing learning progress, thereby reducing pressure and increasing learning interest.
Besides knowledge, training skills such as time management, teamwork, and critical thinking also needs to be emphasized right from the beginning of the year. Combining learning with experiential activities helps learners develop more comprehensively.
A habit to maintain is to maintain a positive and balanced study spirit. At the beginning of the year, you should warm up gently, avoid creating too much pressure, and consider studying as a long journey requiring perseverance and optimism.
New year advice for 9th grade students before the 10th grade entrance exam
Especially, for 9th grade students preparing to enter the 10th grade high school exam, Ms. Nguyen Thien Huong - Vice Principal of Mai Lam Secondary School shared that the beginning of the new year is an important time for 9th grade students to adjust their learning rhythm after the Tet holiday.
Students do not need to study intensively from the early days, but must soon return to order, study evenly and firmly. Trying a little each day will help them avoid pressure when the exam is approaching" - she emphasized.

According to Ms. Huong, after Tet, many students easily fall into a mentality of neglect or excessive worry. "The important thing is that students maintain a calm spirit, build a review plan suitable for their abilities, not compare themselves with friends but focus on progressing every day" - she said.
She also advises students to take advantage of the beginning of the year to review basic knowledge. "This is the golden stage to consolidate the foundation, especially the parts that students still have gaps in. When the foundation is solid, upgrading later will be lighter and more effective" - Ms. Huong shared.
Sending a New Year message, Ms. Huong encouraged: "The 10th grade entrance exam is an important milestone, but not a pressure to be afraid. If you maintain perseverance, positive spirit and self-confidence, good results will come deservedly".
