128,000 candidates take the Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam
On the morning of March 30, the first round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's (VNU) competency assessment exam officially took place. With about 128,000 registered candidates, this is the largest exam round ever, held in 25 provinces and cities with 118 exam scores.

From around 7am, at the University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (District 5), many candidates were present to take the exam. Nguyen Tuan Anh, a student at Hung Vuong High School (District 5), said that he took the exam to use the admission results to the group of Communications and Public Relations. "The exam is expected to change, so I am a bit worried, if the results this time are not good, I will continue to take the second exam," Tuan Anh shared.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee stipulates enrollment in grade 10 of public high school for the 2025-2026 school year in two forms: Admission and entrance exam. Admission only applies to graduates at Thanh An Secondary and High School (Can Gio District). The entrance exam applies to all junior high school graduates in Ho Chi Minh City who wish to enter public high schools.
Regarding the entrance exam process, students register 3 admission wishes in order of priority. After the wish registration stage, depending on the actual situation, the Department of Education and Training can open an additional enrollment period if there are many vacant quotas. Candidates will take 3 subjects: Math, Literature (120 minutes/subject) and Foreign Language (90 minutes), on a scale of 10 and a coefficient of 1. The exam is scheduled to take place on June 6-7, 2025.
Students must register their wishes near their living area to avoid being admitted but not enrolled. After the adjustment period, the candidate's wishes will not be changed. Admission conditions require candidates to take all 3 subjects and none of the subjects have a score of 0. See more...

Education policies are beneficial for teachers from April 2025
The Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 05/2025/TT-BGDDT (effective from April 22, 2025) stipulating working hours, teaching hours and concurrent duties of teachers. Teachers work according to the school year, converted to teaching hours. The principal assigns teaching according to the norm, not more than 50% of the teaching periods exceed each week. Each teacher cannot concurrently hold more than 2 tasks and if they have received allowances, the teaching period will not be reduced.

Decree 60/2025/NQ-CP (effective from April 20, 2025) amends Article 13 of Decree 116/2020/ND-CP on the responsibility of pedagogical students when receiving support for tuition and living expenses.
