Candidates anxiously wait for exam scores to choose majors and schools
After the 2025 high school graduation exam, many candidates such as Nguyen Kim Bao (HCMC) are still worried when predicting that the exam score will only reach about 25.5-26 points, lower than the standard score for Business Administration last year. Similarly, Huu Trong is hesitating to choose a suitable school for the Marketing industry and plans to register 8-10 wishes to increase the chance of being admitted. Meanwhile, Thao Linh chose an admission option that combines both exam scores, academic records and competency assessment to ensure safety.

According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, the high school graduation exam scores will be announced on July 16. Then, from July 16 to 5:00 p.m. on July 28, candidates will register their university admission wishes on the system, with no limit on the number of wishes. On July 21, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the floor score for specific majors such as pedagogical and pharmaceutical. See more...

Expanding the ecosystem, making English the second language in schools
English is currently the most popular foreign language in schools in Vietnam. With the goal of training global citizens, the Ministry of Education and Training is implementing the Project to make English the second language for the period 2025-2035. The project emphasizes the development of communication skills and creating a comprehensive foreign language learning ecosystem. The Ministry also requires pedagogical schools to coordinate with the department of education to train and foster teachers according to practical needs.
At university, studying in English and international affiliate programs is expanding career opportunities. Many schools such as the Academy of Finance or the National Economics University have implemented parallel training programs, international transition, and foreign lecturer training. From there, students not only improve their foreign language skills but also increase their competitiveness in the domestic and international labor market. See more...
Conditions for deputy principals to be paid overtime teaching salary
The Ministry of Education and Training answered the question of Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - Vice Principal and President of the Trade Union of a primary school in the exercise of overtime pay. Ms. Huong said that she has taught 4 hours/week as prescribed and concurrently worked as a part-time union worker, leading to a total working time exceeding the quota.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, Principals and Vice Principals are not allowed to change concurrent tasks to replace the teaching period norm. However, if the concurrent working period leads to a total working time exceeding the prescribed period, they can be considered for the overtime salary payment regime, based on Circular 05/2025/TT-BGDDT and Circular 08/2016/TT-BGDDT.
However, to enjoy this regime, it is necessary to consider the shortage of teachers at school. According to Joint Circular 07 2020, overtime wages are only paid in cases where the unit lacks teachers or when there are people on long-term leave who need teachers to replace them. Therefore, Ms. Huong needs to specifically report on the workload and staffing situation for the school to review, compare regulations and prepare procedures to request payment from competent authorities if eligible.
