Ms. Tuyen said that according to Circular No. 05/2025/TT-BGDDT, secondary school teachers must teach 19 periods/week. Ms. Tuyen asked, does this Circular apply to the 2024-2025 school year? Is the total number of periods in 1 school year that teachers need to teach 35 x 19 = 665 or 19 x 37 = 703 periods? How many periods do teachers teach beyond to be entitled to overtime pay?
The Ministry of Education and Training answers this question as follows:
The working regime for general education and university preparatory teachers is implemented according to the provisions of Circular No. 05/2025/TT-BGDĐT dated March 7, 2025 of the Minister of Education and Training.
Accordingly, from April 22, 2025, the total number of weeks of teaching the contents in the general education program of the school year is 37 weeks, including 35 weeks of actual teaching and 2 weeks of reserve.
The number of teaching weeks to calculate the teaching time limit in 1 school year is the number of teaching weeks for educational content in the education program, excluding the reserve week. Therefore, the number of teaching weeks to calculate the teaching time limit in the 2024–2025 school year is 35 weeks.
