On August 3, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang - Principal of Mai Son Kindergarten (Nhon Mai commune, Nghe An province) said that the flood at the end of July caused heavy damage to the separate school in Huoi To 2 village.
"Heavy rain has completely washed away the playground and the road to the school, leaving only classrooms exposed to mud. The amount of landslides was huge and could not be fixed in a short time" - Ms. Hang shared.
At this school, there are more than 20 preschool children of ethnic minorities. The road to the school is a rugged mountainside, steep slopes, slippery slopes and is at risk of landslides after floods.

"Bringing children to the main school is impossible because the distance is too long and the road is too dangerous. We are considering a plan to borrow or rent a house to organize temporary school for the children in the new school year" - Ms. Hang said.
Not only students but also teachers are facing many difficulties. Some teachers are pregnant and have poor health but still have to travel many kilometers of forest roads.
"After the flood, the road to school is even more muddy, slippery and dangerous. We are very concerned about the safety of both students and teachers. We hope to receive support from all levels and benefactors to soon stabilize teaching and learning" - Ms. Hang strongly suggested.
Nhon Mai commune is a particularly difficult border commune of Nghe An province, with an area of over 310km2, bordering Laos. The recent flood caused hundreds of houses in Nhon Mai to be flooded and damaged, many households lost their homes and property, and traffic infrastructure was severely damaged.
