Trend of opening more majors
In the field of education, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) not only opens up modern teaching methods but also contributes to improving the quality of human resource training.
Many universities have expanded their training programs, including those related to technology and artificial intelligence.
In addition, industries in other fields such as: Economics, media, journalism... are also adjusted in the direction of adding more AI application content.
For example, Hanoi National University of Education announced the opening of 8 more majors, including fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Education, Geography, Chemistry, International Studies and French Language.
Foreign Trade University opens 10 more majors, focusing on major groups: Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Digital Economy, Financial Technology and E-commerce. The University of Commerce has 6 new training programs, including the major of Artificial Intelligence Application in Business.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Rector of CMC University - said that in 2026, the school will also implement 2 more training programs under the Journalism - Communication sector, including Multimedia Communication and Public Relations.
According to him, integrating digital skills and AI into the curriculum helps students not only access professional knowledge but also know how to apply technology in practice.
Not stopping at opening new majors, many universities are also quickly adjusting existing training programs. AI content is added to many modules, accompanied by new forms of learning such as AI teaching assistants, exercises and projects on digital platforms.
Teaching methods also change in the direction of enhancing practical experience. Students participate in specific projects, approach problems from businesses and train their ability to apply technology in many fields such as finance, construction or agriculture.
AI becomes a tool, not replacing thinking
Dr. Pham Thu Thuy - Deputy Head of the Banking Department, Banking Academy - affirmed that promoting the application of digital technology and AI in training is an important solution to improve the quality of human resources, especially in data-related fields such as finance - banking.
Digital transformation and AI application are no longer an experimental orientation but have become a strategy implemented synchronously" - Dr. Pham Thu Thuy said.
The Banking Academy in general, and the Faculty of Banking in particular, many modules related to technology and AI have been added. The teaching method has also shifted from "lecture - notes" to requiring students to directly use digital tools in learning. Lecturers play a directional role, while students actively apply AI to analyze, process information, present and criticize. AI therefore becomes a supporting tool, instead of replacing thinking.
Dr. Vu Van Ngoc - Director of the Institute for Advanced Training, High Quality and POHE, National Economics University, also believes that AI is bringing many benefits in teaching and research, helping to diversify learning experiences.
However, he warned of the reality that as AI tools such as ChatGPT become increasingly popular and accessible, the issue of academic fraud and AI abuse has also become a major concern for the economic sector, where analytical, thinking and critical skills play a core role.
The goal of higher education is not to stop at conveying knowledge but to aim to form for learners critical thinking, problem-setting ability, adjustment and optimization of technology use" - Mr. Ngoc analyzed.
