By November 2025, 13 boarding school projects had simultaneously started construction, speeding up construction progress. Currently, the border area has 45 schools with 38,070 students and 2,110 managers, teachers, and staff.
The review of the Department of Education and Training of Son La province shows that primary schools lack 472 positions, secondary schools lack 299 positions, and there is a local surplus - shortage for each subject, not meeting the new school norms.

Muong leo Primary - Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities currently has 59 staff, teachers and employees. According to the new boarding school norms, primary schools have 10 teachers in excess and secondary schools have 8 teachers short. The school has compiled statistics for each department to report to the commune and province for consideration of transfer and supplementation after operating the new school model.
Mr. Luong Van Hong, Vice Principal of the school, emphasized: "There must be enough teachers who are competent in their expertise and profession when the new boarding school is operating, prioritizing the team that is used to sticking to the village, sticking to the students, not afraid of difficulties or hardships".

At Pa Khoang school (Muong Lieu Primary - Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities), Mr. Mua A Sua shared with Lao Dong: "If I am assigned after operating the new school model, I am ready to continue to support students in disadvantaged areas, accompanying them in teaching and learning".
The Department of Education and Training proposed to streamline the network of 33 schools in the 2026 - 2027 school year, including: establishing 13 new inter-level boarding schools; merging or establishing 7 new schools; keeping 13 existing schools. Each new boarding school is expected to have 1 principal, 2 vice principals, 30 classes with over 1,050 students, and a staff of 78.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ha Trung Chien, requested the early completion of the operation and enrollment plan; prioritizing students in border villages, children of meritorious families, and ethnic minority students; arranging teachers for the right subjects, handling surplus public assets to avoid waste, and ensuring boarding conditions.

The Department of Education and Training will complete the overall project before December 5, 2025, with the goal of reducing focal points but increasing student care, keeping the team knowledgeable in ethnic languages and sticking to the village, realizing the message: "The school is completed, teachers and students are ready".
