On October 31, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh visited, encouraged and presented gifts to support people affected by floods in Ham Thang ward (old Binh Thuan province).
Here, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh directed the work to overcome the consequences of the severe flood caused by prolonged heavy rain.

According to a quick report, heavy rain from the night of October 30 caused widespread flooding, affecting 5,726 households out of a total of 12,797 households in the ward, of which 300 households had to be urgently evacuated to safety.
The neighborhoods of Kim Binh, Kim Ngoc, Thang Hiep, Thang Thuan, Phu Hoa, Phu Xuan and Phu My were the places that suffered the most damage, with water levels rising 12m, flooding hundreds of houses, crops and aquaculture ponds.

By noon on October 31, the authorities had mobilized 5 canoes of the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command and local rescue forces to approach isolated areas, evacuate more than 200 people from the danger zone, and provide essential necessities to the people.
Mr. Cuong, a resident of Kim Ngoc neighborhood, shared: "The water rose too quickly, the whole neighborhood was submerged in water, the fields and shrimp ponds were all flooded. Luckily, the rescue canoe arrived in time, bringing my family and neighbors to safety."

At the scene, Mr. Nguyen Minh acknowledged and praised the proactive and urgent spirit of the rescue forces, along with the solidarity and mutual support of the people and volunteer teams in effectively implementing the "4 on-site" motto.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh directly visited a number of severely flooded neighborhoods, presented relief gifts and encouraged people to overcome difficulties soon.

He also requested the Ham Thang ward government and related units to continue evacuating people from deeply flooded areas, closely monitoring weather developments, coordinating with irrigation lake management units to proactively respond, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh said that the province will mobilize all resources to support people to stabilize their lives, repair their houses, restore agricultural production and soon return to normal life.
Overcoming landslides on Gia Bac Pass
On the same day, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh and the working delegation visited the Gia Bac Pass site (National Highway 28) to directly inspect and direct the work to overcome the consequences of landslides here.
Mr. Nguyen Minh surveyed the locations of the negative slopes that were heavily eroded, listened to reports on the progress of handling subsidence and reinforcing slopes; at the same time, listened to reports from Son Dien commune leaders on landslide repair work on Gia Bac Pass.

Basically, by 6:30 this morning, the authorities had basically completed the cleaning of hundreds of tons of soil and rocks along with a large number of fallen forest trees at more than 12 landslides.
Thanks to that, Gia Bac Pass has officially opened the route, vehicles on National Highway 28 are allowed to circulate normally in both directions.
Mr. Nguyen Minh highly appreciated the efforts of the forces of Lam Dong province and Son Dien commune in carrying out the task of overcoming landslides.
Thereby, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles traveling through the pass.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that provincial and local departments and branches should prioritize long-term solutions such as drilling and geological exploration, improving drainage systems to prevent landslides from recurring; at the same time, arranging forces and means to be on duty 24/24 hours.
