At about 9:00 a.m. on October 30, on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway, km232, Ham Kiem commune, Lam Dong province, flooding occurred on the highway.
This location is about 2km from Phan Thiet intersection (intersection with Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway). The flooded part is located on the North-South road.
At this location, the water was half the wheel of a car and extended about 100m. The vehicles promptly detected and slowed down from a distance.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Viet - Executive Director of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway Project said that the authorities are currently blocking the road in the North - South direction. Currently, the route management unit is temporarily clearing the flow to drain water.
On the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway, vehicles are traveling at a maximum speed of 90km/h. Therefore, when flooding occurs, the Traffic Police force of Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6 (Department 6, Traffic Police Department) and the route management unit urgently arrive to place warnings and regulate traffic. Because when the vehicle runs at high speed into flooded areas, there are many potential safety risks.
From the evening of October 29 to the morning of October 30, in the southeastern area of the old Lam Dong province (Binh Thuan), there was prolonged heavy rain, irrigation lakes released floodwaters, leading to flooding in many areas.
