The People's Committee of Hue City has just issued a plan to proactively prevent and reduce railway traffic accidents and overcome limitations and inadequacies in management, ensuring safety on railway lines passing through the area.
Accordingly, the city requires relevant departments, branches, sectors and units to synchronously deploy solutions to minimize accidents, focus on thoroughly handling frequent collisions and self-opened crossings across the railway; at the same time, clear and prevent encroachment on safety corridors and strictly manage railway land funds according to regulations.
The People's Committee of Hue City emphasized that ensuring order and safety of railway traffic is a key task of authorities at all levels. The head of an agency, unit or locality will be held responsible if he/she lacks inspection, supervision or lacks management to create a risk of insecurity.
The Hue City Traffic Safety Committee is assigned to coordinate with the railway industry to regularly inspect and guide the People's Committees of communes and wards where the railway line passes through in handling and clearing works that violate safety corridors and illegally use railway infrastructure.
Hue City Police directed forces to strengthen inspections and strictly handle violations of regulations at level crossings, self-open crossings, as well as violations in the management, maintenance, exploitation of infrastructure and operation of unsafe railway vehicles.
The Department of Construction coordinates with relevant units to review and evaluate vulnerable locations such as bridges, tunnels, level crossings, etc. to promptly detect and fix potential points at risk of accidents. The city will also prioritize investment funding to thoroughly handle black spots and unsafe self-opened paths.
Railway management and exploitation units such as Thua Thien Hue Railway Exploitation Branch, Binh Tri Thien Railway Joint Stock Company, Quang Nam - Da Nang Railway Joint Stock Company, Da Nang Railway Signal Information Joint Stock Company... are required to coordinate with localities in reviewing, proposing technical solutions and traffic organization to ensure safety for railway transport activities in the area.
