Ho Chi Minh City supermarkets and shopping centers are crowded with customers
The long September 2nd holiday is creating a vibrant shopping atmosphere in Ho Chi Minh City. Records on August 31st show that the number of customers at many supermarkets and shopping centers increased compared to normal days, in which fresh food groups, essential consumer goods, fashion and household appliances are of great interest to many people.
At supermarkets, fresh food, processed food and essential consumer goods are quite crowded with customers. Many families take advantage of shopping before and during the holiday to prepare food at home, and combine eating and playing at shopping centers.
Ms. Nguyen Minh Hanh (resident of Tan Son Nhat ward) said that her family spends most of their holiday time in Ho Chi Minh City, so they take advantage of buying food, drinking water and some necessary items.
“The house has young children, so during holidays I usually buy a little more than usual. I see that the supermarket is having many discount programs, so I take advantage of the items that need to be bought immediately, which is both convenient and saves having to go many times. Today my family bought it for more than 1 million VND” - Ms. Minh Hanh said.

Not only essential goods, but fashion, cosmetics, and household goods groups also attract buyers thanks to a series of promotions implemented during the holidays. Many stalls apply the form of uniform prices, direct discounts or buy more with incentives, thereby stimulating consumers to spend more.

Mr. Quoc Huy (resident of Binh Thanh ward) said that initially his family only planned to go to the shopping center to eat and play, but then decided to buy some more discounted products.
During holidays, shopping centers have many promotions such as a uniform price of 199,000 VND, 299,000 VND, so my family combines going out and shopping. There are normal items that do not need to be bought immediately but if you see a good discount, buy them immediately" - Mr. Huy shared.
Strong promotions, increased supply
Along with shopping, the demand for eating outside also increases as many families choose restaurants and food stalls in shopping centers instead of preparing all meals at home. At some points, the increase in customers forces stores to arrange more staff and proactively serve during peak hours.
According to representatives of some retailers such as Bach Hoa Xanh, WinMart, Emart, MM Mega Market..., purchasing power for fresh goods such as seafood, meat and essential food products during the peak holiday season may increase sharply depending on each item.
To meet the increased demand, units said they have proactively increased supply early, ensuring abundant goods, limiting shortages during peak days. Many essential products are also subject to discount programs to attract consumers and maintain purchasing power during the holidays.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Deputy Head of the Trade Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, during the September 2nd holiday, businesses have prepared for goods sources, price-stabilized goods and discount programs.
Stimulating activities are not only buying and selling but also combined with the tourism industry to bring cultural and culinary experiences" - Mr. Hung said.
Retailers expect promotional activities to continue to be promoted in the last months of the year, focusing on essential commodity groups and times when consumer demand is high, thereby contributing to stimulating market demand.
