Journey from zero to billions in income
Taking advantage of the average climate of 22-25 degrees Celsius and the clean Da Jam stream, Mr. Dang Khac Ho chose Dam Rong as the place to start his business in 2018.
After learning from experience at farms in Sa Pa, Mr. Ho built a farm on an area of 1,700m² in Lieng Sronh commune.
The fish tanks are well designed, from fish breeding tanks to commercial fish tanks. Along with that is a modern water supply system to ensure clean, oxygen-rich stream water.
According to Mr. Ho, to raise sturgeon, the water environment is always carefully checked, from temperature, pH to oxygen content, ensuring ideal conditions for sturgeon to grow.

Caring for the fish also requires meticulousness. The fish are fed specialized feed three times a day, in the right amount to avoid water pollution. After 12 months, each fish reaches a weight of 2-2.4 kg, ready to be sold for 180,000-220,000 VND/kg.
With an output of hundreds of tons of fish each year, Mr. Ho's farm brings in billions of dong in revenue, while creating stable jobs for 4-5 local workers, mainly ethnic minorities.
Not only developing his own career, Mr. Ho also actively shares his experiences, helping many other households to initially succeed in sturgeon farming.
Strongly spreading sturgeon farming
From Lieng Srong commune, sturgeon farming has spread to Ro Men, Da M’Rong, Da Tong and Da Long communes. With support from the Dam Rong District Agricultural Extension Center, people are trained in techniques, supported with breeds and technology.

Currently, the sturgeon farming area in Dam Rong is over 14.3 hectares, with an output of 1,200-1,400 tons/year. Many households apply high-tech models with cement tanks, automatic water flow systems and cover nets, helping the yield reach over 70 tons/ha.
Sturgeon products from Dam Rong are present in major domestic markets and even exported, enhancing the brand value of Central Highlands sturgeon.
Dam Rong district aims to increase the sturgeon farming area to over 50 hectares by 2030, with an output of 8,000-10,000 tons/year, becoming the largest cold-water fish farming center in the Central Highlands.
Mr. Lieng Hot Ha Hai, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee, emphasized: “Sturgeon farming not only helps improve income but is also a sustainable solution to poverty reduction. The government will continue to support people so that sturgeon farming can develop more strongly.”
With the determination of the government and people, Dam Rong is firmly on the journey to become a bright spot in aquaculture development in the Central Highlands. Thereby, bringing sustainable economic and social value to this land.
