What is red light therapy?
Red Light Therapy (RLT), also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), is a non-invasive method commonly used in dermatology and cosmetic medicine.
According to Dr Vinata Shetty, consulting dermatologist at Kaya Limited (India), this therapy is based on the use of red light and infrared light with wavelength ranges from 630 - 850 nanometers, helping to penetrate skin layers to stimulate cell regeneration, heal damage and fight inflammation.
Health benefits of red light
- stimulates collagen production
Red light helps increase collagen synthesis - a protein that plays a role in maintaining skin elasticity and texture. Increased collagen helps reduce wrinkles, crow's feet and sagging, giving firm skin.
- Improve blood circulation
Red light increases nitric oxide production, which dilates blood vessels and increases blood flow to the scalp and skin tissue. As a result, the skin is provided with more oxygen and nutrients, which support cell regeneration and nourish healthy hair follicles.
- Reduces inflammation and soothes skin irritation
This therapy has natural anti-inflammatory effects, especially useful for people with acne, eczema, psoriasis or sensitive skin. Red light helps soothe the skin, reduce redness and irritation.
- Improve skin tone and texture
Thanks to its ability to promote cell regeneration, red light helps even out skin tone, tighten pores and reduce dullness. It also helps reduce damage caused by UV rays and fade brown spots and prey hills - common signs of aging.
- Supports hair growth and scalp recovery
Not only good for the skin, red light is also applied in the treatment of hair loss. The light waves affect hair follicle cells, stimulate energy production (ATP) and promote thicker, stronger hair growth.
