Golden opportunity to enter the Asian playground
Hoang Le Quynh Nhu was officially awarded a place to attend the 2025 Asian Youth Sports Festival (AYG 2025) in Bahrain from October 22 to October 31. Vietnam Athletics is cautious about registering two players, including Hoang Le Quynh Nhu. She plays the main face in the contest for the highest achievement. This is the first time the little girl of Quang Tri sports has had the opportunity to participate in the most important arena of Asian youth sports.
The first time meeting Hoang Le Quynh Nhu at the 2023 National Youth Athletics Championship, Quynh Nhu shared very modestly: "I really hope I will develop good results because athletics is my favorite sport". The coaches of the Quang Tri athletics team shared that this is an athlete with qualities.
After two years, meeting this young face again at the National Marathon and Long Distance Championship of Tien Phong newspaper 2025 in Dong Ha city (Quang Tri) in March this year, we noticed that she had matured. On the 5km women's youth distance, Quynh Nhu finished 10th and won the Youth Women's Team Medal at the tournament. She shared: I am focusing on average distances to achieve the best expertise. Each tournament like this helps me accumulate endurance very effectively".
"The choice of Quynh Nhu was carefully calculated. Athletes predict good professional abilities, so we decided to send Quynh Nhu to attend this year's Asian Youth Sports Festival," said Mr. Nguyen Duc Nguyen, head of the athletics department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports). When asked Quynh Nhu if she was surprised to officially participate in the 2025 Asian Youth Sports Festival?
The young girl said that was the most surprising thing she had ever received in her training and competition journey up to now. When my coach told me that I would be included in the list of athletes expected to prepare professionally to participate in the 2025 Asian Youth Sports Festival, I did not think this was true. After the preparation process, the teachers said that he was chosen as the official member to participate in this tournament. I officially believe this is the truth. I will focus on competing with the highest spirit".
Reduce to develop
Hoang Le Quynh Nhu is an adult from the running movement in the countryside of Ba Don (Quang Tri). The young female player was born in 2010. Up to now, Quynh Nhu has had nearly 3 years of high-performance competition. 2 years ago, Quynh Nhu made an impression when she won the Gold Medal and broke the women's age group record in the women's 600m event at the 2023 National Youth Athletics Championship.
At that time, her performance result was 1 minute 37 seconds 21, breaking the old record: 1 minute 39 seconds 61. At the age of 13, Quynh Nhu achieved her first national record. Last year, Quynh Nhu continued to win the Gold Medal in the women's 800m distance at the 2024 National Youth Athletics Championship.
When I got used to running, I participated in student running races and grassroots running races in the locality. After that, the teachers gave me the opportunity to practice to have full techniques for athletics to continue practicing at this time," Hoang Le Quynh Nhu added.
In the case of Quynh Nhu, the athlete in Quang Tri saw an athlete with high prospects for success. However, many managers assess that the success is brought from the good development of mass sports. Vietnam's athletics has witnessed many athletes early discovering their talents through grassroots competition programs and selecting them as professional athletes.
At the age of 15, Hoang Le Quynh Nhu has a lot of development time ahead. She affirmed that she will focus on practicing to improve herself and win domestic awards. Because, performance is the best reflection of ability.
"We always carefully check each performance index of this athlete in training cycles. The index ensures forecasts on the expertise of coaches. Quynh Nhu is young but very aware of training and practicing, Mr. Nguyen Duc Nguyen added.
Dream of success at a national tournament
Quynh Nhu trained in Da Nang while preparing to go to Bahrain to attend the 2025 Asian Youth Sports Festival. With experience in training young athletes, coach Tran Van Thang of the Vietnam Youth Athletics Team analyzed that Quynh Nhu is strong enough to compete. Playing in Bahrain is certainly facing fierce competition, so she is allowed to maintain a stable mentality to avoid pressure affecting her competition results.
At the 2025 Tien Phong National Marathon and Long-Dance Championship, Quynh Nhu expressed that she will strive to achieve the goal of winning medals at the National Athletics Championship (competing on the field) in the future. Quynh Nhu is gradually accumulating experience and competition techniques for the average distance event.
The young girl realized that success must come from hard work and was not discouraged if she had not been successful. Quynh Nhu is passionate about athletics and watching running is a popular sport. The young girl is used to the weight of running for kilometers in each training session.
Every young athlete is like a young tree. We take good care of them from the beginning, and the trees will grow well when they are grown. Athletes with good technique and accumulating a physical foundation will develop in the long term. But certainly, athletes are not forced to exceed their abilities to avoid being unruly in talent, coach Tran Van Thang once expressed.
After the 15-year age period, athletes enter a period of good development between the ages of 17 and 20. If she achieves stable development on the right roadmap, Quynh Nhu will certainly be a good factor for Vietnamese women's athletics in the future.
The last time Vietnam's athletics participated in the Asian Youth Sports Festival was in 2013. At that time, young face Nguyen Thi Truc Mai won the Gold Medal in the women's distance dance event athletics. After the above Games, Truc Mai is one of the athletes who has achieved many good results for Vietnam's youth athletics.
"The system of the National Youth Championship and the National Youth Group Championship allows managers to select the most potential athletes.
