Honored and proud
Athlete Nguyen Tan Sang said that when he received information about the "Beautiful Youth" award, he felt happy and emotional. I didnt think I would win this award. I don't know what to say because this is an award of great spiritual significance for me, as well as for athletes in general".
Nguyen Tan Sang is a member of the pencak silat Vietnam Team. This athlete is receiving professional training at the National High-level Athletes' Training Center (Hanoi) preparing to participate in the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year in Thailand.
I think that the Beautiful Youth award will help Tan Sang have more good spirits in life and practice sports. This is a very meaningful award for athletes, said coach Nguyen Van Hung of the pencak silat Vietnam Team.
Looking at player Nguyen Tan Sang, Ms. Tu Thi Le Na in charge of the pencak silat department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) - shared: "We always consider Tan Sang as one of the fighters who maintains a very good disciplinary style. This is a player who has developed his expertise with many competition achievements".
For the athletes and coaches of pencak silat in Vietnam, player Nguyen Tan Sang is not a new face. Therefore, searching for the name of this player on Google tools has many articles about Nguyen Tan Sang.
That shows that the media is particularly interested in this pencak silat boxer. However, the Ho Chi Minh City young man said that he only maintained his high concentration by practicing well professionally to complete tasks for Ho Chi Minh City Sports and the Pencak silat Vietnam Team.
Last September, Nguyen Tan Sang was one of the delegates in the list of 16 coaches and athletes in the sports field attending the 4th Patriotic Emulation Congress (2025 - 2030) of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Hanoi Opera House.
At that time, Tan Sang talked on the sidelines of the Congress: "This was the first time I was able to attend the Patriotic Emulation Congress of the management agency. I am very proud to represent many athletes participating in this meaningful program. That helps me have more motivation to practice and compete for even higher results in pencak silat".
Previously in July, Nguyen Tan Sang was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal, recognizing his achievement of winning the Gold Medal at the 2024 World Championship.
The ceremony to receive the First Class Labor Medal for this player and many faces of pencak silat Vietnam took place solemnly within the framework of the 2025 Asian Pencak silat Championship held in Ha Tinh.
The player confided that the Medal brought him responsibility and obligation to be worthy of this recognition. Therefore, Tan Sang believes that the achievements in the tournaments are the most concrete thing to express.
Dedicated to the color of the flag
The most important task set by the Pencak silat Vietnam Team at the 2025 training and competition program is to achieve high results at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. Nguyen Tan Sang is one of the 35 main players training at the pencak silat Vietnam Team at the present time.
Nguyen Tan Sang's international competition journey has gone through many stages of achievements. The boxer has won the world championship, Asian championship, Southeast Asian championship and maintained the number one position in the men's 80kg weight class at the National Championship from 2021 to present.
In 2022, Nguyen Tan Sang attended the Southeast Asian Games for the first time. At the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam at that time, Nguyen Tan Sang entered the age of 23 with a lot of youth and was assessed to surprise the opponents of the men's 80kg weight class. As predicted, Nguyen Tan Sang won the championship. Remembering at the Bac Tu Liem Stadium (Hanoi) of the 31st SEA Games, Tan Sang just put sweat on his face after the semi-final match and expressed: "I have won the right to enter the final match. This is really my wait. I am determined to win so as not to disappoint the fans".
In the final, the Singaporean opponent was injured and decided to give up, so the Vietnamese player won a Gold Medal for himself. A year later, Tan Sang continued to affirm his victory with his professional strength when he won the Gold Medal, defending his No. 1 position in the men's 80kg weight class, at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 in Cambodia.
Last year, Tan Sang won the Gold Medal at the 2024 World Championship. This year, this boxer continued to win the Gold Medal at the 2025 Asian Championship at home.
Coach Nguyen Van Hung shared that each player (including Tan Sang) of the pencak silat Vietnam Team must strive to practice and compete to have the opportunity to participate in an important arena. Therefore, Tan Sang has never taken a break from his expertise.
Talking to us after winning the Gold Medal at the 2025 National Championship, competing in Thanh Hoa (April 2025), Tan Sang expressed his reservations: "All players competing want to achieve high results. However, preparation must be very careful. I was carefully prepared physically by the coaches to ensure my achievements when I was on the field.
The fighters in Southeast Asia are all qualified people, so I have to be cautious with myself. Athletes must grasp the competition skills of pencak silat to ensure the highest results".
Tan Sang's important goal is to complete his mission at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. The pencak silat Vietnam team conducted a physical training session in Da Nang in August. Tan Sang believes that this is a valuable accumulation opportunity for himself and his teammates. Watching this player and a member of the pencak silat Vietnam Team do exercises in physical training at that time, we understand that every athlete who wants to achieve professional success must have hard work and enough time to accumulate.
Born in 1999 in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Tan Sang started practicing pencak silat in 2015. After 10 years as a high-performance pencak silat boxer, the athlete won many medals at domestic and international tournaments. However, Tan Sang affirmed that he still needs to learn more from the instructions of the coaches and every time he is on the ring is also an opportunity for his opponent to learn.
Tan Sang and many athletes always keep important memories at the achievement milestone. The Ho Chi Minh City athlete once expressed the result of the Gold Medal at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam as one of the memorable moments in his career.
Each tournament has professional value. However, the SEA Games are always an important event for Vietnamese athletes. Not many people are allowed to attend the SEA Games right at home. Therefore, I had the opportunity to attend and win medals, and be cheered by the Vietnamese audience, so I will never forget this memory, Nguyen Tan Sang shared.
