On October 19, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of My Tu commune held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Sau Dua bridge in Rach Re hamlet (My Tu commune, Can Tho city).
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Mr. Le Tan Thu - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Internal Affairs Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee; Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, Chairwoman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation; Ms. Lu Thi Ngoc Anh - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, Secretary of the Can Tho City Youth Union.
Information from My Tu commune said that the existing Sau Dua bridge has been invested in construction and use for many years, but the bridge surface is small, only serving motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles. Currently, the bridge has seriously degraded and no longer meets the travel, economic development and social security needs of 181 households, with more than 200 people and students passing through every day.
Accordingly, with the support of agencies, units and sponsors, My Tu commune has received and rebuilt the new Sau Dua bridge. As planned, the bridge surface is 3.5m wide and over 26m long, with a designed load to accommodate vehicles equivalent to cars with 16 seats or less.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Pham Tuan - Secretary of the My Tu Commune Party Committee - said that the new bridge was built at the old bridge location, expected to be completed in mid-December this year, to serve people to circulate goods and travel before the New Year 2026. When completed, the new Sau Dua bridge will make travel and cargo circulation more convenient and safe, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.
