Deep military-civilian affection near Tet

QUANG HÙNG |

Soldiers of Military Region 5 return to the people, warming the difficult lives in the heart of Da Nang near Tet.

The silent worry in the heart of the city

In the small hall at the Military Command of Hoa Cuong ward, the tight handshakes, the tearful eyes of the people when receiving gifts from the Military Region 5 Command are like a beautiful story about the military-civilian fish-water relationship.

Da Nang today is strongly rising with high-rise buildings and buildings, but hidden in the small alleys of many residential groups in general and in Residential Group 56BT in particular, there are many circumstances that need great attention. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh Tuan - Head of Group 56BT - ponderedly shared: "The group has more than 70 households, of which nearly 30 households are facing difficulties. Amidst the bustling development of the city, there is still the silent worry of lonely families, sick, old or without stable jobs. For many years, the local government has had many policies to care for social security, helping these households alleviate difficulties and rise up in life.

Among the 20 poor households present that day was Ms. Nguyen Thi Ninh. Old, without husbands, children, or houses, she had to stay at her brother's house with her nephew who works as a security guard, with unstable income. Ms. Ninh said with tears in her eyes: "I am 81 years old now. Last year, I was entitled to poor household allowance. I had to be frugal in eating and drinking to prepare for illness. This is the first time I have received a gift from the Command of Military Region 5. I am very happy, my dear! The gift right on Tet holiday is truly warm to my heart".

Sharing that emotion is also Mrs. Tran Thi Tho (born in 1956), who used to be a guerrilla. In 1972, once the base was exposed, she was captured by the enemy and imprisoned for 3 years in Hoi An prison. For her, this Tet gift also carries the meaning of gratitude, the warmth of comradeship, of today's generation sent to those who came before.

On the people's side

Despite being busy with year-end work, the Command of Military Region 5 and affiliated agencies and units still organized visits and presented gifts to localities and people in the stationed area. Recently, Major General Tran Minh Trong, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Region, as head of the delegation, and Colonel Nguyen Thanh Xuan, Deputy Head of the Political Department of the Military Region, along with the Da Nang City Military Command and leaders of Hoa Cuong Ward, spent time visiting and wishing Tet to the people of Residential Group 56BT. Major General Truong Minh Trong emotionally expressed: "During the resistance war, soldiers were sheltered, protected, and hidden by the people with their lives. In peacetime, the people create conditions for soldiers to complete all tasks well. Therefore, our armed forces (AR) have a responsibility to show gratitude, must "go towards the people", and together with the locality take care of "not leaving anyone behind", so that people can celebrate Tet warmly and fullly.

The Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Region further shared that the past year was a year imprinted with the imprint of the Military Region's armed forces. From the successful organization of the 11th Party Congress of the Military Region to the 80th anniversary of the traditional day and the honor of receiving the First-class Fatherland Protection Order. But perhaps, the most beautiful image in the hearts of the people is cadres and soldiers focusing their efforts on helping localities prevent and overcome the consequences of storms and floods, rescue and relief. In particular, implementing the "Quang Trung lightning speed" campaign with all the will and energy of soldiers, nearly 1,000 households in flood-affected areas of Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa have new homes before the Lunar New Year. And it is the companionship of Party committees, authorities, and people that has made an important contribution to the Military Region's armed forces successfully completing this mission.

Comrade Ho Thuyen - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Provisional People's Council of Hoa Cuong ward - affirmed: "The military region's companionship during this Tet holiday is extremely precious, making an important contribution to the locality in improving the spiritual and material life of the people so that the locality can develop socio-economics, contributing to the development of the city to become increasingly rich, strong, and civilized".

Simple gifts are daily necessities and cash. Deeper, it is concern, sharing, gratitude, so that the gifts given, the buds remain forever. The feelings of soldiers for the people are not in Tet gift packages, but it is the oath of "the army came from the people, serving the people", building a solid "people's heart battlefield". Hopefully, with the involvement of the entire political system, the companionship of philanthropists, the worries of difficult households will gradually recede, so that every spring, people across the country will celebrate Tet warmly and peacefully.
