This morning (September 11), the tropical depression in the eastern area of Hoang Sa archipelago has strengthened into storm No. 1 in 2025, with the international name Wutip.
Storm No. 1 may be strong at level 10
Latest update from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 10:00 a.m. on June 11, the center of storm No. 1 was at about 16.3 degrees north latitude; 113.4 degrees east longitude, in the sea east of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8 (62 - 74km/h), gusting to level 10. The storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of about 10km/h.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, storm No. 1 will move west-northwest at a speed of 10 - 15km/h and is likely to strengthen.
At 10:00 on June 12, the center of storm No. 1 was at about 17 degrees north latitude - 110.5 degrees east longitude; in the area west of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 9, gusting to level 11.
The dangerous area in the next 24 hours will be at about 15 - 18.5 degrees north latitude; 109 - 115 degrees east longitude.
The risk level of natural disasters at sea is level 3 in the western part of the North East Sea (including Hoang Sa archipelago), the offshore waters from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai.
It is forecasted that in the next 48 hours, storm No. 1 will move north-northeast at a speed of 10km/h.
At 10:00 on June 13, the center of storm No. 1 was at about 18.7 degrees north latitude - 109.6 degrees east longitude; in the area south of Hainan Island (China). The strongest wind near the storm center is level 10, gusting to level 13.
The dangerous area in the next 48 hours will be at about 15.5 - 20.5 degrees north latitude; 108 - 113 degrees east longitude.
The risk level of natural disasters at sea is level 3 in the western part of the North East Sea (including the western part of the Hoang Sa archipelago), the offshore waters from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the waters east of the Gulf of Tonkin.
It is forecasted that in the next 72 hours, storm No. 1 will move north-northeast at a speed of 15km/h and gradually weaken.
At 10:00 on June 14, the center of storm No. 1 was at about 21.9 degrees north latitude - 110 degrees east longitude; in mainland China. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8, gusting to level 10.
The dangerous area in the next 48 hours will be in the north at 17.5 degrees north latitude; 108 - 112 degrees east longitude.
The risk level of natural disasters at sea is level 3 in the western sea area of the North East Sea, the eastern sea area of the Gulf of Tonkin.
From the next 72 to 96 hours, the storm will move northeast at about 20km per hour, continuing to weaken.
Storm No. 1 causes heavy rain, rainfall in some places over 450mm
Regarding the impact of storm No. 1 at sea, the west of the North East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago), the north of the central East Sea will have thunderstorms and strong winds of level 6 - 7, the area near the storm's eye will have level 8 - 9, gusts of level 11, waves 3 - 5m high, very rough seas.
The sea area off the coast of Quang Tri to Quang Ngai from the night of June 11 will have winds gradually increasing to level 6 - 7, near the storm center level 8, gusts of level 10, waves 2 - 4m high, rough seas.
Ship operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and large waves.
On land, due to the influence of storm No. 1, from the afternoon of June 11 to June 13, the Central Central region will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 100 - 300mm, some places over 450mm.
The Northern Central Highlands region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall from 70 - 150mm, some places over 200mm.
