In the early morning of November 21, Ms. Ho Thi Xa (35 years old, Cat village, Huong Phung commune) had a severe labor attack and pain, but the road to the village was cut off by floodwaters, many sections were broken, and had to cross a deep stream.
At 3am, Ms. Xa's husband went to the house of the village chief Ho Van Tinh to ask for help, but the village chief said that he had to take him to the hospital immediately, there could be no delay.

The head of Tinh village asked relatives to knock on the doors of stilt houses in the village where the handsome young man was living, and asked for support to take people to the hospital.
At exactly 3:30 a.m., 23 young men and 2 women in the village were present. A cow car, a motorbike and a hammock were prepared.

Every section of the road that was still possible was used for motorbikes to pull the cow car carrying Ms. Xa; on bad sections, the whole group took turns carrying a hammock. The distance from the village to National Highway 9 is about 20km long but only about 5km by car, the rest is on foot.
On the road, there are many small streams and two culverts that are flooded. To avoid getting wet, the strongest young men kept their heads tight, lifting Ms. Xa when wading through the muddy red water. At times, Ms. Xa complained of pain, the two women went along and bowed down to massage her belly to reassure her.

"We encourage each other to try, if anyone is tired, they should change their burden. It takes nearly 4 hours to get near National Highway 9" - Mr. Tinh shared.
At around 7am, the group took Ms. Xa to the meeting place, where the ambulance from Huong Hoa Medical Center was waiting. The nurse immediately took the mother to the stretcher and just 10 minutes later, she gave birth to a baby boy right on the ambulance before being transferred to Huong Hoa Regional General Hospital for further monitoring.
Seeing the mother surrounded by a square, the whole group breathed a sigh of relief. They returned to the village, crossed the roads that were destroyed by the flood, and returned to Cat village at 11 noon.

Mr. Ho Van Vinh - Secretary of Huong Phung commune said that as soon as he heard the news, he contacted the hospital to dispatch an ambulance and asked the village to mobilize young people to support. "The road to the village is severely damaged, there is no other way but to carry a hammock. Fortunately, both mother and baby were safe. The locality recommends financial support to urgently repair the road" - Mr. Vinh said.
Cat village and Tria village are separated between mountains and forests, mainly lived by the Van Kieu people. Currently, many sections of the road to the two villages are severely damaged and need to be repaired soon for people to travel safely.
