The policy of building Tu Lien Bridge along with Tran Hung Dao Bridge and Ngoc Hoi Bridge was only "approved" by the Hanoi People's Council at the end of February 2025. At that time, there were still many people wondering whether it would take longer to start construction because with a similar project with a total capital of up to tens of thousands of billions of VND, there would be many procedures, capital allocation, contractor selection...
Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said frankly at that time: "In the current context, with special situations, special tasks require special solutions. In principle, the city's leaders are determined to start construction of Tu Lien Bridge on May 19, 2025".

2 years to build a bridge across the Red River. It would be a miracle. Remember, Thanh Tri Bridge took more than 7 years from the start of construction to the opening. Nhat Tan Bridge took 6 years to complete.
Hanoi people look forward to the completion of major traffic projects in Hanoi every day to reduce traffic congestion. Moreover, accelerating the progress of bridges across the Red River is to expand new development space, increase land value, develop the economy, especially services, tourism, culture and entertainment of Hanoi.
Tu Lien Bridge is one of 18 road bridges across the Red River under the Hanoi Capital Transport Development Plan to 2030 with a vision to 2050.
Completed in 2027, Tu Lien Bridge will be one of the iconic bridges of Hanoi City. Symbol of the spirit of "working only, not retreating", creative, flexible and appropriate work solutions, opening up effective work experience for Hanoi's next projects.
