Workers and laborers are not only the force that creates material wealth but also the foundation of social stability. Therefore, making the voices of workers heard during the policy making process is an essential task. The Fatherland Front and the Trade Union have created a reliable social criticism channel, helping policies directly related to workers' lives - from wages, occupational safety and hygiene, social insurance to housing and welfare - to stick to reality more closely.
The role of the Trade Union as a bridge is also clearly demonstrated through the extensive propaganda network at the grassroots level.
Major policies, from innovating the growth model to building grassroots cultural life, from enforcing labor laws to mobilizing workers to participate in patriotic emulation movements, have all been brought by the Trade Union to each factory and workshop. This ability to spread creates conditions for workers to understand, trust and accompany the policy.
One of the highlights in the activities of the Trade Union over the years is the system of in-depth and stable social security programs. "Tet Sum Vay", "Union Shelter", "Worker's Month", union member welfare programs, support for workers in work accidents, occupational diseases, job loss... have become typical activities of the Union organization.
When coordinating with the Fatherland Front, along with patriotic emulation movements launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, those programs have been more effective thanks to the synchronous mobilization of resources. Great Solidarity houses, gifts for poor workers, emergency support in natural disasters, epidemics... not only provide material assistance but more importantly, giving workers a sense of care and protection. The trust of workers is therefore built with more specific and timely care.
Caring for workers is caring for the endogenous strength of the country. Stable life, a safe working environment, and adequate social security policies not only help workers feel secure in their work but also create conditions to improve labor productivity, a vital factor in the context of global competition.
In every historical period, the people's trust has always been the mainstay of the Party and the political system. When workers' lives are better cared for, when their difficulties are organized to be shared, when their voices are listened to, that trust is further consolidated.
The contribution of the Trade Union to the activities of the Fatherland Front over the past 95 years through caring for people's lives is the clearest proof that all efforts for innovation of the country are directed towards people, especially workers. From that belief, the strength of the great national unity bloc is fostered, creating a foundation for the sustainable development of Vietnam in the future.
