The organ donor was Mr. D.V.L (37 years old, residing in Quang Ninh). He was admitted to the hospital on the evening of May 21 in a state of a deep coma, cerebral hemorrhage, extended necrotic fluid, loss of light reflectance and had to use a ventilator.
After a period of intensive care, the patient's condition did not improve, and the doctors diagnosed him with brain death.
Starting from the desire to "giving to last forever", Mr. L.'s family decided to donate organs to save the lives of other patients.
Immediately after determining that the patient had signs of brain death, the Board of Directors of Quang Ninh General Hospital urgently held a meeting of the professional council, activated the entire organ collection and transplantation process, and at the same time completed all legal procedures according to regulations.
The medical teams conducted a brain death assessment 3 times according to the correct professional procedure. At 1:00 a.m. on May 23, the medical team and doctors of Quang Ninh General Hospital, with the support of experts from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, officially performed the organ removal.
After more than 3 hours of continuous surgery under absolutely sterile conditions, the organs removed included: heart, liver, lungs, two kidneys and two corneas. This is one of the complicated multiple organ removal cases performed at the provincial level.

The two kidneys were transplanted right at Quang Ninh General Hospital to two patients with end-stage chronic kidney failure: Ms. N.T.H.T (33 years old, Quang Ninh) and Mr. D.T.L (54 years old, Hanoi). This is also the first time a provincial hospital has performed two kidney transplants at the same time.
To ensure the safe surgery, the hospital mobilized maximum human resources, established 5 surgical rooms and placed the entire system of equipment, medical equipment as well as professional teams such as resuscitation, anesthesia, urine, kidneys - blood filtration... in the highest readiness state.
The kidneys after being removed were transferred and transplanted immediately to the two patients. After the transplant, both kidneys began to excrete urine - a sign that the kidneys are functioning well.
The remaining organs were strictly preserved and urgently transported to specialized hospitals: heart and liver to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital; lungs to Central Lung Hospital; two corneas were transferred to Hue Central Hospital and Central Eye Hospital.
This is the 5th and 6th kidney transplant to be implemented in Quang Ninh in just over the past month, affirming the professional capacity of the team of doctors in the province in the field of high technology such as organ transplantation.
Other organs (except the cornea) have also been transplanted to suitable patients.
