LD25058: Son has a brain tumor and bleeds, poor mother calls for help

Quỳnh Chi |

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh called for help because since her son discovered a malicious brain tumor, the family had difficulty and was economically exhausted.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh was born in 1992, currently residing in Thu Lam commune, Hanoi.

Ms. Oanh got married in 2011 and had 3 sons, of which Le Dinh Tuan Dung (born in 2022) was the youngest son.

Ms. Oanh and her husband used to work in the fields to take care of their 3 children's education; both family families have difficulties. Not to mention, the couple is nearly 80 years old, in poor health, and has poor eyesight, so they cannot support their grandchild.

Ms. Oanh said that her and her husband's income is about 5 million VND/month. Although there is no surplus, the family still makes a living every day.

In October 2024, baby Tuan Dung was discovered to have a serious illness. After receiving the doctor's news that her child had a brain tumor bleeding, Ms. Oanh was confused, partly because she was worried about her child, partly because she knew that the upcoming period would be very difficult because the treatment cost was expensive and prolonged.

Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, Ms. Oanh said that since Tuan Dung started his illness, up to now, her child's treatment costs have run out of more than 1 billion VND.

"My family ran around everywhere, borrowing 20 million VND from relatives. With no money to treat my child, I had to put down my family's red book to borrow from the bank to have medical expenses, hoping my child would be healthy. Now, the family has nothing to mortgage or sell for money, and her child's illness still requires a long battle. The doctor discussed a treatment plan for Tuan Dung according to the chemotherapy and radiotherapy regimen, without saying anything in advance..., Ms. Oanh said tearfully.

Since her child became sick, Ms. Oanh has not been able to do anything because she has to take care of her child both at the hospital and at home. Her husband works in the fields and takes care of his elderly and sick parents. The income from the fields and gardens that she previously had was just enough to make a living, now her child is sick and struggling much more... No longer knowing where to turn, Ms. Oanh called for help from kind-hearted people to support her child to have more money to take care of her child.

Talking to Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Thao - head of Zone 5, Thu Lam commune - said that Ms. Oanh's family had no surplus, since her son became ill, the economy was in even more difficulty and struggles. Both paternal and maternal grandparents are old and weak, and have financial difficulties, so they cannot support Ms. Oanh and her husband. Mr. Thao hopes that benefactors will support Ms. Oanh's family to have more medical expenses for Tuan Dung.
