Reconnecting the cut-off zone
After many days of heavy rain and floods, from the night of October 30, the rain in the mountainous areas of the western part of Da Nang city has decreased, and the river water has begun to recede slowly. But behind the slopes, there is still mud, broken roads, cutting off many villages.

At the starting point of the working group of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My on the morning of October 31, each box of instant noodles, dry food, drinking water, banh chung, clothes, medicine... was packed on a motorbikebikebike over the slope, into an isolated area to supply the people.
"The road has landslides in many places, so we have to stop and open the road, there are sections where we have to carry goods on foot for several kilometers to get to the village", an engineering officer shared while checking the goods goods goods goods.
According to the Provincial Steering Committee for Defense of Area 3, the entire area still has hundreds of large and small landslides, including 167 landslides and 146 traffic landslides. Although the forces have urgently repaired more than 40 points, many routes to Tra Tan, Tra Doc, Tra Leng, Tra Giap, and Nam Tra My communes are still not fully open to traffic.

The electricity and telecommunications systems in these communes are also severely damaged. Without phone signal, without communication, we had to go directly through the forest, follow the stream to grasp the situation and deliver goods, a soldier and engineer recounted, his voice was still low after many days of being in the rain.
On the supply journey, soldier Tran Van Hien's legs were swollen and full of wounds from soaking in water and stepping on sharp rocks. The shirt was wet and covered with mud, but he and his teammates were still diligently carrying bags of rice and instant noodles into the village.
The meaning of military-civilian affection
According to the Provincial Steering Committee for Defense of Area 3 - Tra My, the management unit currently has 167 landslides and 146 traffic landslides (45 have been repaired).
In recent days, more than 1,000 households with over 4,000 people have been evacuated to safety and have begun to return home when the water recedes. However, the consequences of floods are still very severe: 4 deaths, 2 missing people, 9 injuries; 52 houses completely collapsed, 1 house partially collapsed; many residential areas were eroded, traffic was congested, causing many obstacles to supply and damage recovery.

In response to the urgent needs of the people, on October 31, the Defense Command of Region 3 coordinated with the 270th Engineering Brigade to organize the transportation of 460 gifts including banh chung, banh mi, drinking water, instant noodles, dry food, clothes and medicine to Song Y, Ngoc Giap, Ngoc Tu villages (Tra Tan commune) and villages 6, 7, 9 (Tra Doc commune).
At the same time, Military Region 5 provided an additional 500kg of dry food, while the Da Nang Military Command presented 4 tons of rice to people in the highlands. The trucks stopped in the middle of the mountain slope, goods were passed by hand through mud and mud, through the stream that had just drained water. Each gift that reaches people is a arduous yet humane journey.

goods reached the people, everyone was moved. Ms. Ho Thi Nhi - a resident of Tra Doc commune - said: "Seeing the soldiers wading through mud, scratched shoulders, and holding onto their belongings, the people felt very sorry. Some people ask to keep them and eat meals with the people to relieve fatigue".
In the afternoon, the village had just escaped the flooding, and the smoke from the kitchen was rising. The villagers quickly cooked a silver-plate meal with some braised fish and wild vegetables to invite the soldiers to stay and eat together. A meal of winter in the landslide area becomes a warm and quiet space amidst difficult days. The soldiers ate quickly, just in time to smile and then set off - in front of which there were villages that had not yet been reached, and where the people were waiting.
