The latest storm information from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on November 25 said that tropical depression Verbena is in the sea near Jordan, Guimaras, with sustained winds of 55 km/h, gusts of 90 km/h.
This tropical depression near the East Sea is moving west-northwest at a speed of 35 km/h.
PAGASA said that Warning No. 1 on the impact of tropical depressions is still in effect for Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, the northern and central areas of Palawan, as well as Masbate in Luzon.
In the Visayas, Typhoon Signal No. 1 is also in effect for Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Cebu, Bohol, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte and Southern Leyte.
The same warning is also in effect for Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, the northern part of Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, the northeastern part of Agusan del Sur, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, the northern part of Misamis Occidental and the northern part of Zamboanga del Norte.
PAGASA forecasters added that tropical depression Verbena is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm and is likely to leave the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR) on the morning of November 27.
When it enters the East Sea, this system will be called storm No. 15 in the East Sea.
Meanwhile, wind shear, a convergence of hot and cold air, is affecting the weather in Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya. In these areas, the sky is cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms.
The remaining areas of Luzon will be cloudy to cloudy, with scattered light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
