According to the latest storm/low pressure information, 2 new low pressure systems have formed near the Philippines, forecast to strengthen into storms and enter the East Sea.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring two low pressure systems near the country.
At 8:00 p.m. on November 8, Low Pressure 11b was at about 14.6 degrees north latitude, 136.5 degrees east longitude, 1,330 km east of southeast Luzon. The low pressure has a moderate potential to strengthen into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Low Pressure Area 11c is located at about 3.3 degrees north latitude, 154.0 degrees east longitude, outside the Philippine Area of Interest (PAR), 3,115 km east of northeastern Mindanao. The low pressure area has a low chance of strengthening into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
This development is consistent with PAGASA’s storm forecast for the week of November 8-14, 2024. Accordingly, PAGASA forecasts two low pressure areas to appear right after Typhoon Yinxing (Typhoon Marce in the Philippines).
During the week of November 15-21, 2024, low pressure areas 11b and 11c may intensify into storms and enter the East Sea. In addition, a third low pressure area is likely to appear in the Philippine Typhoon Forecast Area (TCAD) during this period.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Yinxing has left PAR and entered the eastern sea of the northern East Sea, becoming typhoon No. 7. The strongest wind near the storm's center is level 14 (150-166 km/h), gusting to level 17. The storm is moving west at a speed of about 15 km/h.
The Northwest Pacific Storm page also said that after storm number 7 Yinxing, there will be 2-3 consecutive tropical cyclones forming in the eastern Philippines, and are likely to enter the East Sea in the next 10-15 days.
As of now in 2024, the two strongest storms in the Northwest Pacific storm center are both active in the East Sea: storm No. 3 Yagi at super typhoon level with a pressure of 915 mbar and storm No. 5 Krathon at super typhoon level with a pressure of 915 mbar.
In less than a month, the East Sea welcomed two super typhoons and another very strong storm is currently active - storm number 7 Yinxing, level 14 intensity, gust level 17.
