At the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of July 31, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang responded to the press about the video circulating on social media showing the clash between the Vietnamese security forces and the group of Ninagers believed to be related to deportation.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang said: "Through discussions with the authorities, we know that these are foreign citizens residing illegally in Vietnam and have violated Vietnamese law."
"Vietnamese law enforcement agencies have resolutely handled the case in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law and international law" - the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam emphasized.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang added: "I would like to reaffirm once again that Vietnam's consistent policy is to always facilitate foreigners' entry, exit and residence in Vietnam to study, work, invest in market research and tourism, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam as well as contributing to people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and other countries.
Like in other countries, foreigners entering, exiting and residing in Vietnam must fully comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law".
