The latest storm and low pressure information on the afternoon of December 25 from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the possibility of tropical storms making landfall in the Philippines before the end of the year is not high, but some areas in the country may still record light rain to thunderstorms due to other weather systems.
Weather forecaster Obetrina Badrina said the forecast was based on the latest data collected by PAGASA. PAGASA is not currently monitoring any low pressure areas that could strengthen into tropical storms.
However, a northeast monsoon, called amihan, is expected on December 26 and 27, bringing light rains to eastern parts of Luzon.
Scattered showers are forecast in the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas due to easterly winds until December 27.
The northeast monsoon is forecast to weaken from December 28 to December 29, but some areas in Luzon and Visayas may still have rain.
