The fact that senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries often choose to visit each other first right after taking on new leadership positions has become a good traditional practice that no other country has.
Affirming that the visit of Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu "carries profound political significance, showing the inheritance and continuous development of the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos", Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam emphasized: First of all, the visit continues to strongly affirm the special political trust between the two Parties, two States and peoples of the two countries; consistently demonstrating the guidelines and policies of the Party and State of Vietnam, which are always identified as top strategic priorities in relations with Laos.
In the context of the world and regional situation having many rapid and complex fluctuations, this visit affirms the importance and strategic significance of the Vietnam-Laos relationship that needs to be further consolidated and nurtured to become increasingly in-depth, practical and effective in all fields" - the Ambassador shared.
Second, the visit is one of the important foreign affairs activities of key leaders contributing to further deepening the cooperative relationship between the two Parties, especially in Party building and rectification, building the political system, ensuring national defense and security and expanding international integration.
Third, the visit is an opportunity for the two sides to review and evaluate the implementation of agreements between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries; Joint Statements as well as bilateral agreements; share information and exchange experiences to concretize and effectively implement the major orientations set out by the congresses of each Party.
Through talks and meetings, the two sides will discuss and agree on directions to promote comprehensive cooperation and deepen the content of "strategic cohesion" in Vietnam-Laos relations.
The important new point of the current stage is the requirement to concretize the content of "strategic linkage" from political awareness into specific cooperation programs, with focus, key points, specific roadmaps and implementation mechanisms, thereby making new breakthroughs, creating substantive changes in bilateral cooperation. In which, focus on strongly promoting cooperation in economy, trade and investment, especially connecting the two economies in terms of institutions, transport infrastructure, energy... ; sharing experiences on socio-economic development, ensuring macroeconomic stability, building an independent and self-reliant economy associated with deep international integration; creating substantive changes, gradually bringing economic cooperation to develop commensurate with the special political relations between the two countries" - the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos noted.
Fourthly, the visit right on the eve of the Bun Pimay of Laos is not only of profound political significance, but also an opportunity to strengthen the emotional relationship and close brotherhood between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries.
Fifth, the visit is also an opportunity to promote cultural and educational cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to educating the young generation of the two countries about the historical value and strategic significance of the Vietnam-Laos relationship, considering this as a key factor to ensure the inheritance and sustainable development of the special relationship between the two countries in the future.
