Israel suspected of planning pager blast for 15 years
Israeli intelligence allegedly planned to detonate Hezbollah communications equipment for at least 15 years. On September 17 and 18, a series of explosions occurred in Lebanon, killing 32 people and injuring more than 3,400, when pagers and other devices exploded.
Israel has not confirmed its role in the incident, but Mossad is believed to have rigged the device with explosives and detonated it remotely. The attack caused widespread casualties, including children, and raised tensions between Lebanon and Israel.
New confirmation of missing MH370 location
MH370 search expert Richard Godfrey has just confirmed the location of the missing MH370 plane through analysis of WSPRnet data. Accordingly, the plane crashed at coordinates 29.178850 South latitude and 99.85352 East longitude, located 39.3 nautical miles southeast of the 7th arc in the Indian Ocean.
The discovery, based on the latest analysis of passive radar data, strengthens the theory of where MH370 crashed. Malaysia could restart the search later this year.
China launches intercontinental ballistic missile
On September 25, China successfully launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into the Pacific Ocean. The Chinese Ministry of National Defense said the launch was part of the annual military training program of the People's Liberation Army Rocket Force.
The missile carrying the simulated warhead landed accurately in the designated sea area. The ICBM is designed with a range of over 5,500 km and is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. China had notified relevant countries in advance of this activity.
Japan's ruling party has new leader
On September 27, former Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba won the leadership election of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), making him the expected Prime Minister of Japan next week.
Mr. Ishiba is known for his expertise in defense policy and has proposed a more equal Japan-US security alliance. After being formally elected by parliament, he will form a new cabinet. Current Prime Minister Fumio Kishida congratulated Mr. Ishiba on his victory and pledged support for the new administration.
Hezbollah fires ballistic missile for first time near Tel Aviv, Israel
On September 25, Israel successfully intercepted a ballistic missile fired by Hezbollah near Tel Aviv, marking the first time the group had struck deep into Israel’s commercial center. The Qadr 1 missile, fired by Hezbollah, targeted the Mossad intelligence headquarters.
The attack was said to be in support of Palestine and to protect Lebanon. Israel responded by attacking a missile launcher in southern Lebanon. There were no reports of casualties in the incident.
