Vietnam is providing Iran with technical information for cargo ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating with the Ministry of Construction and related businesses to provide Iran with technical information on Vietnamese cargo ships to pass through Hormuz.

At the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of April 23, the Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered a number of questions related to the conflict situation in the Middle East.

Answering questions about the progress in ensuring Vietnamese ships circulate through the Strait of Hormuz, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized: Over the past time, Vietnamese functional agencies at home as well as abroad have regularly and continuously exchanged with Iranian functional agencies on procedures related to Vietnamese cargo ships and crew members who can safely operate at sea in the strait.

Based on the guidance of Iran's relevant agencies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating with the Ministry of Construction and related businesses to provide Iran with technical information on Vietnamese cargo ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to information from Vietnamese representative agencies in the Middle East and through exchanges with ship owners, currently, Vietnamese ships and crew members are still safe in the Strait of Hormuz" - Ms. Pham Thu Hang said.

Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been, is and will continue to coordinate with relevant ministries and sectors, ship owners to work with Iranian functional agencies on the necessary technical requirements for Vietnamese cargo ships and crew members to soon be safely moved through the Strait of Hormuz and at the same time continue to closely monitor the situation and have timely protection measures in case problems arise.

Also related to the impacts of the conflict in the Middle East, when asked to share measures to ensure the maintenance of fuel supply, including agreements that Vietnam has reached with partners from other countries, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: In the context of the Middle East situation continuing to be complicated, Vietnamese agencies and businesses in the field of fuel import and export always proactively cooperate with partners inside and outside the region to promote the implementation of signed long-term supply contracts, and at the same time actively exchange and cooperate with other partners to diversify supply sources and ensure that there is no shortage of fuel for production and business activities and people's needs.

Also at the press conference, answering a request to comment on the second round of direct negotiations in Washington, USA between Israel and Lebanon, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed: Vietnam welcomes the efforts to promote dialogue to find diplomatic solutions between Israel and Lebanon.

We call on relevant parties to continue to exercise restraint and comply with the ceasefire agreement, resolve disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations and complying with international law and the United Nations Charter to bring about long-term and sustainable peace in the region," Ms. Hang said.
