Currently, the sports have completed the qualifying round for participation in the 2026 Youth Olympics.
Vietnamese sports were awarded 10 slots for 5 male athletes and 5 female athletes.
Accordingly, the slots for Vietnamese Sports include swimming (1 male athlete, 1 female athlete), athletics (1 female), taekwondo (1 male), badminton (1 female), road cycling (1 female), wushu (1 male) and beach wrestling (2 males, 1 female).
The announcement on the official number of slots for Vietnamese Sports has been sent by the International Olympic Committee IOC to the Vietnam Olympic Committee.
From the above 10 slots, the national sports teams that are awarded slots will list their athletes to participate in the 2026 Youth Olympics in accordance with regulations.
The 2026 Youth Olympics will officially take place from October 31 to November 13.
The opening ceremony will be held on October 31 and the closing ceremony on November 13.
The entire Congress has 25 sports organized including 3x3 basketball, archery, gymnastics, athletics, badminton, 5-man baseball, beach handball, beach volleyball, beach wrestling, boxing, breaking jump, sea rowing, equestrian, fencing, futsal, judo, road cycling, 7-man rugby, sailing, skateboarding, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, wushu.
This is the first time a African country has been awarded the right to host the World Youth Olympics by the IOC.
The last time the World Youth Olympics took place was in 2018 in Argentina.
We won 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal in the above competition.
