Player Kuon Mom (Cambodia) is officially the first foreign player in the men's event at the 2026 National Volleyball Championship.
The 2025 National Championship has just ended in Ninh Binh (October 16). According to Lao Dong's research, the Hanoi men's volleyball team continues to reach an agreement for Kuon Mom to return to Vietnam to compete in the first phase of the 2026 National Championship. The parties have reached a consensus.
This year, the Hanoi men's team hired foreign players to participate in the National Championship for the first time. Kuon Mom is the main striker of the Cambodian men's volleyball team. This hitter and the Hanoi men's team competed well in the rankings and the relegation round of the 2025 National Championship. In this round, the Hanoi team won 3 matches against Sanest Khanh Hoa, Da Nang and Tay Ninh to successfully stay in the league.
Coach Nguyen Huu Truong (Hanoi) has assessed Kuon Mom as a reasonable addition for the team to have a professional balance at the decisive stage of this year. After this year's national tournament, Kuon Mom has returned to his hometown Cambodia and is expected to join the Hanoi team when the 2026 season is about to start.
In addition to Kuon Mom, the first female foreign player to participate in the 2026 National Championship is Tichaya Boonlert (Thailand). This setter plays for the long term for the Duc Giang Chemicals women's team. Therefore, she continued to participate in the national tournament next year. Duc Giang Chemicals team has finished 5th in the women's event of the 2025 National Championship.
