On October 29, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an urgent online meeting with a number of Central localities on response and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and floods.

Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the Hue City bridge; leaders of ministries, branches and localities.

According to the report of the Office of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, statistics as of the morning of October 29 show that there have been 9 deaths and 5 missing people due to floods in the Central region (Da Nang: 6 dead, 4 missing; Hue: 1 dead, 1 missing; Quang Ngai: 2 dead).

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister stated that this was a particularly heavy flood in the Central region, many places had record-breaking heavy rainfall.

The Government leaders requested ministries, branches and localities to urgently compile statistics, synthesize and update on the preliminary damage situation, immediately report to the Politburo, the Secretariat and competent authorities.

The Prime Minister directs Party committees and authorities to promptly organize visits, encourage and support people, especially families with dead or missing people; immediately implement the best support policies for people, support the funeral arrangements for those who have died or are injured, and treat the injured.

Continue to organize, resolutely relocate and evacuate people from dangerous areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and flash floods. Ensure food, foodstuffs, necessities, clean water, disinfectants... for people; By all means, it is necessary to provide to people in areas with deep flooding, isolation, and landslides.

Localities review and propose if rice, food, dry rations are needed. In the immediate future, the Central Government will immediately support 2 tons of dry food for Hue City, Military Region 5 will immediately transport it to people, military forces, and police to urgently deploy supplies to people in deeply flooded and isolated areas.

The Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 5, Military Region 4, and the police continue to mobilize forces and vehicles such as boats, canoes, etc. for natural disaster prevention.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Science and Technology direct forces, EVN Group, and telecommunications enterprises such as VNPT and Viettel to urgently overcome the situation, and to provide electricity and telecommunications waves as soon as possible to ensure people have full and timely information.

The Prime Minister also requested the calculation of solutions to overcome the consequences, restore activities immediately after the flood receded, especially classrooms, schools and medical facilities, not to let children lack a place to study, not to let patients lack a place to treat their illnesses, not to let people lack food, clothing and suffer from hunger.

Prepare forces, vehicles, and materials to support road cleaning, environmental treatment, disease prevention and control, and production recovery immediately after floods.

The Prime Minister directs competent agencies to proactively coordinate with relevant agencies, units, banking systems, and credit institutions to promptly implement support policies on taxes, credit, insurance, etc. so that people and businesses affected by natural disasters can recover and do business soon.

Ministries and branches must proactively handle local recommendations on urgent needs according to their authority, and beyond their authority, then report to the Prime Minister. In the immediate future, the Ministry of Finance will allocate 150 billion VND to support Hue City, 100 billion VND to Quang Ngai and Quang Tri.
