Referring to school violence cases in which teachers are victims, National Assembly delegate Nguyen Anh Tri said that it is necessary to ensure that teachers are not threatened in their profession.

Need for a protective mechanism so that teachers can practice with peace of mind

On the morning of November 25, the National Assembly discussed in groups the investment policy for the National Target Program on modernization and improvement of the quality of education and training for the period 2026 - 2035; the investment policy for the National Target Program on health care, population and development for the period 2026 - 2035.

Contributing opinions to the education program, National Assembly delegate Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi delegation) was interested in the content of the teaching staff.

In the summary, section 4 states: "Investing, supporting, improving the quality and capacity of teachers, educational managers and learners". The delegate assessed that the content is very good but there is still a lack of content on ensuring the right to work and practice of teachers without threats or restrictions.

The analysis clarified that delegate Nguyen Anh Tri mentioned the issue of school violence, in which teachers are victims. That was the incident in Hanoi recently, a student brought a knife into the classroom, when the teacher asked him to take it away to ensure order, he grabbed his hair and assaulted the teacher.

"The above situation occurs in many places. A teacher who is just a bit harsh with students will at least get angry, if more severe, he will be threatened, or parents will speak up, then public opinion, especially comments on the internet will harm the honor of teachers. What should we do?" - Delegate Nguyen Anh Tri raised the issue.

He believes that to educate students, it must be with love, responsibility and appropriate educational measures.

"I myself have matured thanks to the strict and proper education of my family and teachers. We must promote this tradition. I felt we were losing. We can't do that, because that's a responsibility," he said.

Education wants good, depends largely on teachers

Delegate Hoang Van Cuong (Hanoi delegation) expressed his agreement with the necessity of implementing the National Target Program on modernization and improving the quality of education and training for the period 2026-2035.

The program consists of 5 project components, of which 3 components focus on investing in facilities from preschool, general education, to vocational and university education, to create a spacious and modern qualified facilities.

Delegate Hoang Van Cuong expressed his hope that when the program is implemented, in regions and localities, the most spacious facility must be the educational facility. If the local schools are clean, spacious and beautiful, education in that locality will certainly improve.

"How to make students go to school feel excited, attractive, want to go to school, have the best learning environment" - Mr. Cuong said.

The delegate also shared that in reality, especially when going to the Mekong Delta or mountainous areas, there are places where students have to wear pants to wade through flooded sections to get to school. The landscape of schools in many places is not spacious, even mossy, degraded, not creating excitement for students when going to school.

"Schools must be a space to attract learners. Therefore, with 3 components of infrastructure investment, it will create educational institutions that are truly places where students want to go and have full learning conditions" - the delegate expressed his opinion.

He also suggested prioritizing funding sources for improving the qualifications of the teaching staff, because no matter how modern the machines are, it will be meaningless if the operator is not qualified enough.

"The funding for this content is still modest, and needs to be prioritized to improve the capacity of the teaching staff to meet the requirements of education and training" - the delegate proposed.
