This morning (September 31), in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission - chaired a meeting with delegates of the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, revolutionary veterans, pre-upgrade cadres, generals, and heroes of the People's Armed Forces to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
At this meeting, General Secretary To Lam informed the delegates about the upcoming 14th National Congress of the Party.
As scheduled, the 14th National Congress of the Party will be held in the first quarter of 2026.
Up to now, the Central Government is actively preparing for the 14th Congress to become a historic Congress, creating a mark to bring our country into an era of prosperity, sustainable development, for the prosperous and happy life of the people. The documents submitted to the Congress will be sent for comments to Party committees, Party cells, all Party members and the masses in August 2025.
The General Secretary said that according to the Party's policy: The Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat of the 14th tenure must attach special importance to quality and need to have appropriate quantity and structure to meet the requirements of comprehensive leadership and increase the number of Party Central Committee members in important priority positions, areas and fields.
In which:
(1) The 14th Party Central Committee consists of 200 comrades, including 180 official Party Central Committee members and 20 alternate Party Central Committee members;
(2) XIV Politburo from 17-19, comrade;
(3) The Secretariat is from 11-13 comrades. Some Politburo members assigned by the Politburo will join the Secretariat and some Secretariat members will be elected by the Central Executive Committee.
The rate of Party Central Committee members (including both formal and absent) is expected to be over 10% for young cadres under the age of 47; female cadres about 10-12%; ethnic minority cadres about 10-12%.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the selected comrades must be truly exemplary, clean, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, dare to sacrifice personal interests for the common good, put the collective interest, the people's interest, and national interests above all, be a prestigious person in the Party and be trusted by the people.
The General Secretary also added that the Politburo and the Central Executive Committee are also calculating a number of key areas and strategic tasks of the country that need to increase the number of Central Committee members.
"We plan to have 3 more Central conferences from now until the 14th Congress, continue to prepare carefully in terms of documents and personnel, and solve urgent problems of the country. All work is being implemented very urgently" - General Secretary To Lam said.
