On June 24, the People's Council of Soc Trang province, term X, 2021-2026, held its 34th session (special session).

Speaking at the session, Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Soc Trang province said that on June 16, at the 9th Session, the 15th National Assembly voted to pass Resolution No. 203 amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; and at the same time passed the Law on Organization of Local Government in 2025.
Along with that, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed Resolution No. 1668 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Can Tho city in 2025. Accordingly, after the arrangement, Can Tho city has 103 commune-level administrative units, including 31 wards and 72 communes; of which 30 wards, 65 communes were formed after the arrangement and 8 commune-level administrative units did not carry out the arrangement.
Implementing the conclusions of the Central Government, the Politburo and the Secretariat on the arrangement of the apparatus, the Standing Committee of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee issued Plan No. 145 dated June 22, 2025 on organizing trial operations of agencies in the new commune-level political system. From now until June 30, the province will focus on completing all preparations to ensure that the new provincial and commune-level agencies officially come into synchronous operation from July 1, 2025.
According to Ms. Dao, at the 34th Session, the Provincial People's Council will consider and decide on a number of contents under its authority. These are important policies and guidelines, creating a legal basis for the Provincial People's Committee to be proactive in managing socio-economic development, effectively organizing the implementation of resources; promptly resolving regimes and policies for beneficiaries according to regulations; contributing to the completion of socio-economic development goals and tasks in the coming time.
At the session, the delegates of the Provincial People's Council approved 6 reports and 20 submissions; 4 inspection reports of 4 Provincial People's Council Committees; approved 22 resolutions.

Also at this session, the Provincial People's Council voted unanimously to remove Mr. Le Vu Duc - Secretary of the Ke Sach District Party Committee from his duties as a Provincial People's Council delegate due to early retirement at his request.

In her closing speech, Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao suggested that the Provincial People's Committee and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee continue to promote the work of arranging administrative units; arrange personnel, headquarters, and working facilities appropriately, ensuring conditions to serve people and businesses after the arrangement. It is necessary to review and effectively handle surplus assets and land; make the most of existing facilities. Complete the payment of regimes and policies for cadres, civil servants and public employees who quit due to arrangement.

Ms. Dao also emphasized the need to urgently review legal documents affected by administrative reorganization to make appropriate adjustments, ensuring consistency and legal effectiveness; quickly resolving problems of people and businesses, especially related to procedures and documents after the reorganization.
