On the morning of May 23, the National Assembly discussed in groups the practice of thrift and combating waste in 2024.
Speaking, delegate Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi Delegation) assessed that the work of fighting waste has been promoted, achieving results that meet the expectations of voters and people in the past time.
In addition to the positive results in this work, the delegate said that there are many problems related to waste that are still very large on the national average.
He said that there are still many abandoned houses, many land projects that have not been resolved and are waiting.
There is one thing that I see very few meetings mentioning, which is waste in dining and partying, the delegate said and suggested that many people may feel that this is a small, insignificant problem.
But according to the Hanoi delegate, this is a huge problem. Pointing out the reality of festivals, treatments... from the district to the provincial level that he had the opportunity to attend, he realized that "most of them were very wasteful".
"There are still many trays of rice worth a few quintals, but sometimes it only reaches about 50-60%, sometimes even some trays of rice can only be eaten at 30%, which is really a waste," the delegate expressed concern.
From those wasteful activities, the delegate wished that there would be a broad and strong campaign to practice thrift at parties, parties and savings should become a way of life.
The delegate also said that in the fight against waste, we focus more on finding mistakes, discipline... this is true but it must be more than that, waste from ideas, plans, from strategies in the matter of investment and use.
The delegate also gave examples of Bach Mai Hospital, Facility 2, and Viet Duc Hospital, Facility 2 in Ha Nam. When building 2 hospitals, there are opinions that being built at the gateway to Hanoi will not require all patients from Thanh Hoa, Nghe An... to go to Hanoi.
However, the delegate said that if a family has sick people and finds a higher route, their plan always chooses the best end route, they will choose Hanoi instead of Ha Nam. The delegate also pointed out the waste of not putting these two hospitals into use.
Delegate Le Minh Nam (Hau Giang Delegation) suggested that it is necessary to pay attention to practicing thrift against waste in a consistent, complete, synchronous and long-term manner.
The delegate recommended strengthening the management and exploitation of land use, resources and minerals to promptly overcome shortcomings, limitations, and improve planning quality to ensure economical, efficient, and sustainable land use, minimizing loss, waste, and negative impacts on the environment.
At the same time, it is recommended to continue to evaluate and review suspended projects, projects that have not been put into use or land that is still deserted to exploit land resources optimally.
Regarding the headquarters of public housing after the merger of administrative units and streamlining the apparatus, the delegate also proposed that the Government should pay attention to having policies to practice thrift against waste for headquarters at the provincial, district and commune levels to be most effective.
"Most of the headquarters of these units are in prime locations, convenient, now it is necessary to use them to achieve the purpose of efficiency and savings, which is a matter that needs to be calculated," the delegate said and said that nationwide in the coming time, the headquarters will be redundant, so there needs to be calculations.
