On December 4, a working delegation of Hai Phong city led by Comrade Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee, visited and worked in Bach Long Vi Special Zone, inspected the socio-economic development situation, national defense - security and encouraged officers, soldiers and people on the island.
According to the report of Bach Long Vi Special Zone, after more than 32 years of establishment, with more than 60 essential works and projects (electricity, clean water, healthcare) have been invested in, basically solving difficulties. Currently, the island is energyally autonomous. The total production value in the first 9 months of the year is estimated at VND 383.56 billion, equal to 107.3% over the same period. In particular, the value of agricultural and aquatic product production reached 136.5% over the same period. Education and health care have also been improved with the remote medical examination and treatment model.

At the meeting, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau highly appreciated the efforts of the Island District, affirming that Bach Long Vi has transformed strongly, from a fishing village with almost no infrastructure to a developed geopolitical region of the Northern region. Despite the advantages, with the economic growth rate increasing compared to the same period last year, the island still faces difficulties related to geographical location, natural conditions, and especially the failure to completely overcome the consequences of natural disasters as well as the prolongation of the implementation time of some investment projects.
The Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee emphasized: The special zone must maintain sovereignty and security, improve people's lives, develop the marine economy, towards the goal of " Strong people, sustainable islands, lasting forces". To achieve this goal, the Chairman of the City People's Committee requested Bach Long Vi to urgently concretize three pillars of sustainable development under the direction of the General Secretary, including: High-class resort island tourism, High-class seafood farming and Island ecosystem conservation as a foundation for sustainable development.
