The situation of people being scammed into going to Cambodia continues
On the morning of September 5, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave its opinion on the Government's report on crime prevention and control and law violations in 2025.
According to the review report of the Law and Justice Committee, the Government has made many efforts and proposed many effective solutions to prevent and combat crimes and law violations.
Although basically all types of crimes and law violations have decreased compared to the same period (down 21%); however, some types of crimes still increased such as: fraud, property appropriation, especially high-tech crimes...
Speaking on this content, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan expressed concern about two prominent issues that are causing public concern: the situation of "easy salary" scams to take people to Cambodia and the elderly through "0,0 VND" tourism programs on cyberspace.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized that despite many efforts to propagate the "easy work, high salary" trick, the situation of people being tricked into going to Cambodia continues. There are cases that have been rescued but then continue to be scammed again, raising big questions about the effectiveness of prevention work.
Mr. Le Minh Hoan also mentioned the story of elderly people being scammed in cyberspace through "0 VND" travel programs.
According to the press, these programs attract people because the initial cost is 0, but then they are forced to buy everything, causing victims to "los money and get sick".
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan said that local police and authorities cannot be fully covered if they only rely on traditional propaganda methods, especially in localities with large populations. It is necessary to take advantage of digital transformation and daily information tools to reach people.
He proposed using screens at Public Administration Service Centers to broadcast fraud warnings, helping people raise awareness during the waiting period.
"We need to create every channel to support local authorities and the police force, not just limited to traditional methods. Although the investigation and settlement of the case after the incident is necessary, the consequences of "losing money and getting sick" and the sequelae are huge.
I believe that there are many ways to minimize these damages, and we should not rely on just one tool," said Mr. Le Minh Hoan.
Arresting hundreds of scammers in the Golden Triangle area
Explaining later, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long - Deputy Minister of Public Security - said that the situation of fraud crimes is still very complicated.

Over the past year, the Ministry of Public Security has promoted international coordination, especially with countries sharing borders, sending working groups to the Golden Triangle area to coordinate the fight and resolution of a series of cases related to fraud centers there, arresting hundreds of subjects for handling.
Mr. Long emphasized that cyber fraud is a common reality in many countries.
The Deputy Minister of Public Security affirmed that he will continue to strive and has actively carried out propaganda work well. According to Mr. Long, despite stepping up propaganda on all platforms, including cyberspace and mainstream press, people's awareness has been raised, but many people are still gullible and believe that many people are still being scammed.
