Speaking at the Conference to summarize the work of the Industry and Trade sector in 2025, the period of 2021-2025 and deploy key tasks in 2026 held on the afternoon of December 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that in the context of our country facing many difficulties and challenges, even more than other countries, there are unprecedented problems. Typically, the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, global trade disruptions, increased strategic competition, and increasingly serious climate change.
In that context, we have overcome, still achieved important results, even set many new records, our country still maintains macroeconomic stability, ensuring major balances of the economy. In the overall success, the Industry and Trade sector has made very important, fundamental and motivating contributions, not only in the fields of industry and trade but also related to many other sectors and fields" - the Prime Minister acknowledged and commended.
The Prime Minister summarized the outstanding events of the industry with 35 words: "Industry growth is in depth; Trade is expanded and enhanced; Market is diverse and sustainable; Internal solidarity is high; Organization of cadres is streamlined".
The Prime Minister cited that industry recovered, with a breakthrough growth of 9.5%; processing and manufacturing industry 10.6%, the highest in the past 5 years. Trade is expanded with a total import-export turnover of about 920 billion USD, which can change from now until the end of the year - this is a proud result. Exports continue to grow in the direction of market diversification, more sustainably, not dependent on a single market.
Regarding the work of organizing cadres, there have been proposals to restructure, streamline, rearrange the apparatus, and improve the quality of the cadre team. The assignment and assignment are becoming increasingly clear, linking responsibility with authority, time, and specific results.
Grasp world trends and pioneer in leadership
In the coming time, the Prime Minister noted that the Industry and Trade sector needs to focus on grasping the situation, especially the three major emerging trends.
The first is the trend of global economic and trade division and decentralization.
Second is the slowdown in global economic and trade growth, old models are no longer suitable, multilateralism is threatening.
Third is the trend of green development, sustainable development, digital transformation becoming an objective and strategic requirement.
In the coming time, to achieve the growth target of high 10%, it is necessary to continue to promote traditional and new driving forces. The Prime Minister requested the Industry and Trade sector to pioneer in 6 major contents.
First, pioneering in industrialization and modernization.
Second, pioneering in rapid and sustainable development, digital transformation, green transformation.
Third, pioneering in diversifying markets, products, and supply chains.
Fourth, pioneering in preventing and combating corruption, negativity, smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.
Fifth, pioneering in administrative reform, decentralization and delegation of power.
Sixth, pioneering in building a database for management and operation.
c) Industrial and modernization today is not just about machinery and equipment but is associated with new technology, digital economy, and green economy. Digital transformation must go hand in hand with building a complete and accurate database. Market diversification must be associated with research on actual market demand, not having nothing to sell, but having to sell what the market needs.
