Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep - Chairman of the Labor Union of PouYuen Vietnam Company: Currently, the company has nearly 40,000 employees, of which the rate of employees having to rent accommodation to live and work is quite high, housing conditions are cramped, and the living environment does not meet the requirements.
Many families do not have enough living space and have to send their children back to the countryside for their grandparents to raise. Children have to be away from their parents, affecting the formation and development of their health and personality.
The 2023 Housing Law stipulates that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) is the governing body for investment projects to build social housing using trade union financial resources for workers and laborers who are eligible for social housing policies to rent.
The new Trade Union Law 2024 passed by the National Assembly also stipulates that one of the tasks of trade union finance is to invest in building social housing for union members and workers to rent.
Therefore, I hope that trade unions at all levels will quickly implement legal regulations to build social housing for workers and laborers to rent. Because when workers have stable housing, they will feel secure in their work, be more attached to the business, and the business will have stable labor, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
Mr. Luu Kim Hong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Nidec Vietnam Company: Our country has had many strong movements recently, especially at all levels of government and state agencies with the streamlining of the apparatus to enter a new era of the nation.
The Vietnam Trade Union Organization and trade union activities from the Central to the grassroots trade unions have also undergone innovations and changes. Along with that, the Trade Union Law (amended) 2024, effective from July 1, 2025, also stipulates many more functions of trade union organizations such as presiding over supervision, having the right and responsibility to participate in giving opinions and social criticism... thereby enhancing the role and position of trade union organizations and trade union officials in performing their functions.
The grassroots trade union and its cadres have an additional legal corridor to propose content and conduct social criticism according to the law. This is a channel for us to promote democracy, to represent and protect union members and employees; helping to not only ensure the rights of union members and employees but also better for the enterprise. Because enterprises that properly implement legal regulations and democracy at the grassroots level will lead to stable labor and development of the enterprise.
We hope that trade unions will strongly apply digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to make their professional activities faster, more accurate, and more effective.
At the same time, the trade union organization quickly implemented a social housing construction program so that union members and workers could rent, buy, access preferential housing policies, and stabilize their lives and jobs.
Ms. Tran Thi Hong Van - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Nissei Electric Vietnam Company: We welcome the new year 2025 in a very excited mood, with the feeling of great changes of the country and people entering a new era.
The Vietnam Trade Union Organization also has strong changes with the merger of many professional departments at the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor level, streamlining the apparatus.
In the coming time, there will be many challenges for the team of union officials, especially those who are not specialized unionists, who must both ensure the professional work of the enterprise and perform the work of the union well.
Currently, union cadres have to perform many tasks, which often overloads the union.
Therefore, it is expected that trade unions need to quickly apply digital technology and artificial intelligence in their work and activities, especially at grassroots trade unions, to reduce administrative procedures; at the same time, more clearly define the tasks of grassroots trade unions, focusing on activities to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests and directly care for union members and workers.
