Dien Bien - After nearly a day of being missing while grazing with his mother, an 8-year-old boy was found dead from drowning.

According to initial information, Quang Van V (born in 2018, residing in Ket village, Tuan Giao commune, Dien Bien province) went missing on the afternoon of July 7, while grazing buffalo with his mother in the Ket village area. Immediately after receiving the news, local authorities and authorities organized a search.

On the morning of July 8, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Quang Van Cuong - Chairman of Tuan Giao Commune People's Committee, confirmed that at around 9:00 a.m. the same day, the authorities had found the body of Quang Van V after nearly a day of being missing.

Accordingly, V's body was found in a puddle of water in the Ket village area (old Quai Cang commune) now Tuan Giao commune.

Mr. Quang Van Cuong added that after finding the child's body, the commune government directed the police, military forces and organizations of Tuan Giao commune to support the victim's family. The forensic agency also conducts procedures according to the law.

"After that, the local authorities will hand over V's body to his family for funeral arrangements according to customs and practices" - Mr. Cuong said.

Dien Bien is a mountainous province with rugged terrain, many rivers, ponds and lakes, so the risk of accidents and injuries to children is still high.

According to statistics in 2024, the whole province recorded more than 2,800 cases of child injuries in accidents, including 45 deaths, and 29/45 cases of heart attack due to drowning.
