On the morning of November 7, Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch, said that due to the direct impact of storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi), the North-South railway line encountered a serious problem in the area between Dieu Tri Station (Gia Lai) and Tuy Hoa Station (Dak Lak).

Heavy rain caused many trees to break and fall onto the railway, affecting the signal information system. In addition, floodwaters washed away stone soil... damaging railway infrastructure on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line.
In particular, the Phuoc Lanh Van - Van Canh section was washed away, eroding the roadbed of Km1136+850 (100m long, 9-10m deep), and information columns collapsed. Tan Vinh - Dieu Tri section has trees pouring into the railway.

From the evening of November 6, many passenger trains have stopped along the route, including SE8 and SE6 trains departing from Saigon, which are stopping at Tuy Hoa station (Dak Lak); SE22 departing from Saigon, which stopped at Dong Tac station (Dak Lak); SE4 departing from Saigon, which stopped at Phu Hiep station (Dak Lak); SE2 departing from Saigon, which stopped at Hao Son station (Dak Lak).
The SE1 and SE3 trains departing from Hanoi on November 5 stopped at Dieu Tri station (Gia Lai); SE45 departing from Da Nang on November 6 stopped at Dieu Tri station (Gia Lai); SE7 departing from Hanoi stopped at Phu Cat station (Gia Lai).

From 7.25 a.m. on November 7, the railway industry has transferred passengers on lottery SE1, SE3 from Dieu Tri Station to Tuy Hoa Station and from 7.58 a.m. deployed 4 passenger transport cars from SE8 to Tuy Hoa Station.
"We are currently coordinating with units to focus on urgently fixing the problem at Phuoc Lanh Van - Van Canh section. It is expected to take a day or two to complete the repair because the railway foundation in this area is floating on a large scale" - Mr. Vinh informed.

According to statistics from Vietnam Railway Corporation, the initial damage caused by storm No. 13 caused many areas to be affected by fallen trees such as: Chi Thanh - Hoa Da at km 1177+800, Phu Hiep - Hao Son area, Hao Son - Dai Lanh area.
