On the morning of July 23, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Colonel Nguyen Dang Chien - Head of the Propaganda Department, Engineering Corps said that based on monitoring weather forecasts, hydrology and the results of measuring the flow rate in the Phong Chau bridge area, at 9:00 a.m. this morning, Brigade 249 - Engineering Corps reopened the Phong Chau pontoon bridge.
"The 249 Brigade began ensuring traffic through the pontoon bridge from 11:30 to 9:00 p.m. today. From tomorrow, the unit will ensure a pontoon bridge to serve people crossing the river from 5am to 9pm every day, after 9pm the bridge will be cut to treat garbage, store, maintain the bridge sections and create conditions for waterway vehicles to circulate" - Colonel Nguyen Dang Chien informed.
Previously, implementing the direction of the Ministry of National Defense and the Engineering Corps on the prevention and control of storm No. 3, from 7:00 p.m. on July 21, Brigade 249 temporarily stopped ensuring bridges and ferries in Phong Chau area, organized bridge cuts, anchorages and equipment for ensuring bridges and ferries.
Based on safety conditions, the connection of Phong Chau pontoon bridge after storm No. 3 demonstrates the timeliness and dedication to serving the people of Brigade 249 - Engineering Corps.
